Im noticing a lot of knee jerk reaction. FULLY understandable! But its going to be free, so at least give it a try. Some quotes from this artical.http://flyawaysimula...rosoft-studios/"The team behind Microsoft Flight® consists of roughly 50 people, including a mix of professional pilots, 40% of which worked on the previous team.""The team has put a great deal of effort into getting the game to run smoothly at it’s highest settings, while not requiring out of this world hardware. But also, getting it to still look good on it’s lowest settings, accommodating those end users with lower-end hardware and even those running the Windows XP operating system.""However, the game also features full game pad and joystick support, with complete access to key bindings and control configuration, for those who want to make it as close to the real thing as possible.""The game is built on an improved legacy engine, for large scale scenery support. The base is still a globe, it’s just that there is not enough geography yet. But they would rather launch now and not have everything than wait and let the product age. This also helps keep the download size down""The aircraft models are stunningly detailed and are authentically modeled with new modular systems for both aerodynamics and physical systems. Stalls and spins, including snap rolls, are tunable per aircraft. There are also tunable ground dynamics for tires and water operations, fuselage drag for proper slips and prop-wash over control surfaces for more precise aerobatics and ground handling."For those big iron pilots, there is still FSX and XP10 if you can find your way though the UI, but it seems like a nice sim for ppl who like to fly low and slow.

Thanks for this article MVG... it's a much more positive take on the Hawaii only release. Especially "But they would rather launch now and not have everything than wait and let the product age."... this makes perfect sense for such a large project area (the entire earth). It may progress into something much closer to what we all hoped over time.

Nice try troll, have anyone who has seen the screenshots know your full of it. It looks as good or better then any 3rd party products out there, and I would love to see you prove otherwise.

Even the average and mediocre Halo player will dismiss Flight.Flight will be the greatest flop of the Century and all thanks to Howard.Do you have picture of him ? I propose to pin it at the top of each flying simulation forum in the world.

Full disclosure:MvGibbage is a former ACES developer, so he has a bit of a vested interest in seeing Flight succeed.

Not really. Flight looks like FSX default scenery with little more detail, proper payware scenery for Hawaii or even tileproxy makes it look way better.Anyways quality of Flight scenery does not matter as it will have only few small areas where to fly. Flight will be huge flop its already very sure thing. Honestly I dont even care what some Hawaii looks as I have never felt any need to fly there.

I spent 3 months on Aces before they killed the entire team, and now making 3rd party aircraft for FSX. Im just asking people to keep an open mind.

I was going to buy a payware Republic Seabee for FSX that was going to be released soon, but I think you have a great idea here! I'll just wait for the free Flight with the free Icon aircraft.

-------------------------------------------------------------You are being truly gracious to your old ex-ACES hatchet men! I was thinking after reading your post...that just the yearly BONUS of any one of the top two executives at Microsoft (let alone their full salary) could have kept ACES up and running with financial resources at the ready. So...with them axing the lot of you....I state that you are being most gracious. If.... you were picked up by the FLIGHT team...well, as you might be seeing the 24 months-by-now writing on the wall......keep your resume updated.

Actually, this strikes me more as a "We've been working on this project forever. Let's put it out there and see what happens before we decide to can it."A month-long beta test. No plans for the whole world. Let people decide what we will develop next. Etc. sounds like a ship without a rudder to me.

Heh, I agree, it does seem a to have a hint of 'plan B' to it... who knows maybe there was a change in management or project ideals somewhere along the line and they're just trying to recoup their losses. But then again it could have been planned like this from the beginning for whatever reason, it doesn't make any sense to me although the idea might become fleshed out as more is revealed over the coming months.

An aircraft without a rudder maybe?

An aircraft without a rudder maybe?
I stand corrected. :)
