folder that holds images /shortcuts to "select aircraft" folder?

Featured Replies

HiIn the menu you open (select aircraft) there are images of the various aircraft.Where is the location of the folder that holds this image?I'm running FSX and have PMDG FS9 aircraft installed (running my own flightdeck - long story). The images in the "select aircraft" folder for the PMDG aircraft are question marks and I'd like to correlate them to the particular PMDG aircraft.Long shot - thanks, Iain

Actually, if you go into, for example, the PMDG NGX Folder and select any texture, you will see that there is an image that's called "Thumbnail". It's in every aircraft's independent texture folder. If you want to put a new one in for an aircraft, it must be named "thumbnail" and then it should work.

You may have to create them if they are FS9 aircraft.Location is normally in the aircraft/texture folder, called Thumbnail.jpgJust look in the default FSX C172 folders for an example.Any jpg will do..

the thumbnails are in each livery texture folder of your aircraft. each texture.X folder would need a thumbnail.jpgHow to make them? Just fly the plane with each livery and make screenshots, then use MS Paint to crop them (to make your plane as prominent as possible) and save as a .jpeg with the name "thumbnail" and insert in the appropriate texture folder.

There is a small utility here in the library that will do it quickly and easily.Do a search for "Autothumbnail V2" by Lamont Clark...Been using it for years..
