January 8, 201214 yr Hey fellas.I'm looking for a simple moving map that works with google earth. I've tried the latest version of FSXGET that I could find (0.1 beta 3) and I just can not get it to work. It sends FSX crashing to the desktop on my system. I really don't need anything more sophisticated that an icon which represents my a/c and that moves across a google earth overlay I have on a separate monitor. I have searched here and on google and have had no success to date. I see things like FS Earth but they appear to be a bit more than I am really after.Anybody have a good, simple Google Earth moving map that works with FSX & Windows 7 (64bit) ?Thanks!John John
January 8, 201214 yr Have you looked at PlanG here:-http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/And it's free.Den Edited January 8, 201214 yr by Den19
January 8, 201214 yr Author Thanks Den - I have Plan G and I use it for creating Flt Plns but I never considered it might be useful to provide a moving map during no-flt plan, vfr flights. I will bring it up and look more closely! Thanks again!John John
January 8, 201214 yr I'm pretty sure that Flightsim Commander 9 will do this. Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
January 9, 201214 yr PlanG is perfect for this. Works wonderfully. Really... but on "which window mode?" That's the question.
January 9, 201214 yr Really... but on "which window mode?" That's the question. It would require being in windowed mode if you run it on your FS machine, but optimally if you have a second system you can run it across simconnect. I run it from my laptop. - Aaron
January 9, 201214 yr It would require being in windowed mode if you run it on your FS machine, but optimally if you have a second system you can run it across simconnect. I run it from my laptop. +1 I run PLAN G networked on my laptop as well. Takes some time reading the manual to set up on the network, but it's well worth the effort. January 9, 201214 yr Author Thanks for all the great information fellas! I did go back and look carefully at the Plan G manual and it will, indeed, work wonderfully well. I have both Plan G and FSX on the same machine. I typically use FSX in windowed mode with Nvidia's surround and now I put Plan G on the fourth monitor. On my system anyway, Plan G needs to be set up after everything else is in place and running. I needed to learn the " start sequence" so to speak and, once that was down pat everything works well.I really appreciate your suggestions!Y'all take care!John John
