January 9, 201214 yr Hi guys!Have been trying to find a key command for operating the Transponder switch since I always find it a little bit tricky while you're busy entering/vacating the runway but haven't found any not in the FMC options in the NGX nor in FSX itself. I did find a command in FSX called 'Transponder (select)' mapped to the 'T' key by default but that one didn't do anything to the transponder switch in the NGX.Isn't there any way you can control this switch in the NGX using a key command or did I simply overlook it?
January 9, 201214 yr yea get fscrew2 lol, dont think you can do it since there 4 selected positon for the switch to be in but i could be wrong Edited January 9, 201214 yr by pete_auau I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
January 9, 201214 yr The NGX module for LINDA has some LUA variables for that knob, so I must be possible to control via FSUIPC. How to technically do that - I can't help you with that, but it might be worth investigating. I have a hat on my throttle mapped to the transponder, so I just click forward a couple of times when entering the runway. Until FS2Crew comes along of course... Christoph Kühne

Until FS2Crew comes along of course...OK, but you say you already were able to map the transponder switch to the hat switch on your trottle - how did you do that? I have a CH yoke and I would like the transponder switch to one of the switches on my yoke. I have heard of LINDA but never looked into it, is that what you use to map the transponder switch to your throttle switch?I do have the registered version of FSUIPC.
January 9, 201214 yr In that case I would really recommend taking a look at LINDA (www.fs-linda.com), it works like a treat. I think it has an option to cycle the transponder through its modes, which you would need if you only want to use one button. Christoph Kühne

January 9, 201214 yr Im using the mcpcombo2 with linda, and using one of the efis knobs in a different mode for the tcas switch. It is really, really easy with the vrinsight gear. Think it might work with a joystick button, but havent tried Oz Sim Rig: MSI RTX3090 Suprim, an old, partly-melted Intel 9900K @ 5GHz+, Honeycomb Alpha, Thrustmaster TPR Rudder, Warthog HOTAS, Reverb G2, Prosim 737 cockpit. Currently flying: MSFS: PMDG 737-700, Fenix A320, Leonardo MD-82, MIlviz C310, Flysimware C414AW, DC Concorde, Carenado C337. Prepar3d v5: PMDG 737/747/777. January 9, 201214 yr OK, guess I should have a look at LINDA but how did you map your switch on your throttle to the transponder switch in the NGX...did you use LINDA?sorry, my answer wasn't well written: yes, I use LINDA for all button mappings, it is a very powerful solution. I even managed to do some programming myself, I wanted to have the chrono start button on the glareshield and the probe heat switches mapped, both of which the current NGX module doesn't include out of the box, but it wasn't too difficult to implement. The NGX module contains some settings for the transponder which you can map to your throttle. Let me know if you run into any problems. Christoph Kühne
January 9, 201214 yr Author Hi Christoph and thanks for your further explanation!I just downloaded LINDA and checked it out and also looked briefly through the documentation but I realize learning how to map the NGX transponder switch to one of the buttons on my CH Yoke isn't anything I will accomplish tonight :wink:The LINDA application seems very powerful like you say and I'm sure you could do almost anything with it once you learned how to use it. I'll try to find some time looking deeper into this but quite honestly and since I'm already very happy with the current mappings I made using the CH Manager software it feels a little bit too much to learn just to map one single switch in this case the transponder switch in the NGX. I did however try the trace feature in LINDA and moved the transponder to it's different settings but didn't notice this generated anything in the LINDA trace/console window but that was probably because of me not knowing how to use these tools correctly.Anyway thanks for your tip and input and maybe just maybe I'll give this a second try when I find the time for it! January 10, 201214 yr Did you download the module for the NGX? (http://forum.avsim.net/topic/341971-pmdg-737-ngx-module-version-13/)I don't remember if that comes with the base package of LINDA. Once you have that module installed you can use the predefined functions, no need to go looking for LUA offsets. The function you are looking for is NGX XPND MODE CYCLE, which steps through the modes which each button push.Anyway, I agree it takes some time to set everything up properly - plus, never change an running system comes into mind... Christoph Kühne
January 11, 201214 yr Author No, I didn't download the NGX package but assumed everything was already included in the base package.Yes...like you say never change a running system definitely comes into mind but at the same time it sure would be nice being able to map the transponder key to my yoke so let's see...maybe I give it another try and then just map this single key if that is possible without messing up all my current assignements I already have using CH Manager.Being the complete newbie I am on this, do I need to have LINDA if I download this NGX package or would it be enough with FSUIPC I already have installed?
January 11, 201214 yr do I need to have LINDA if I download this NGX package or would it be enough with FSUIPC I already have installed? You need to have LINDA istalled (just put a copy into the modules folder). Then you have to copy the files of the NGX modules to the /modules/linda/ folder, wherever they are supposed to go (can't be more specific, I'm not sitting at my FSX machine). Then you should be all set. When you open Linda, it has a "select aircraft" list at the top, the NGX entry should appear and be selectable. In the tab for your throttle, you should be able to assign the NGX/transponder/XPND MODE CYCLE function to just a single button without affecting anything else. Christoph Kühne
