January 24, 201214 yr To PMDG Staff,After the mist has cleared at bit around FLIGHT and the announcement that you guys will not sell your soul to MS, I have thought about new ways to continue my hobby.I truly enjoy all your products availble for FSX, however, I need a platform that will continue to develop during the comming years.I have found the Prepare 3D project as most promising, beeing able to retrofit all FSX addons according to the developer. My question; does the PMDG products work in Prepare 3D? Have you any plans on producing products with Prepare3D in mind? Thanks,JohanSweden Johan Gothenburg(ESGG) Sweden
January 24, 201214 yr Commercial Member There are licensing issues between the two developers, I believe, so I doubt it.Unofficially, I think some people have gotten it to work, but it would not be supported by PMDG. Kyle Rodgers
January 25, 201214 yr They work for the most part, with some manual editing on the p3d side.As mentioned above, use on p3d is not covered by pmdg's Eula and they will not offer support to anyone having problems on that platform. January 25, 201214 yr As mentioned above, use on p3d is not covered by pmdg's Eula and they will not offer support to anyone having problems on that platform. To make the answer complete: it's indeed not covered in the EULA and you won't get support but (unlike some other developers) PMDG doesn't mind if you use their products in P3D, so you won't be doing anything illegal when you try to use their products in P3D.
January 27, 201214 yr Author Hello,Thanks for the replies. I have now bought a developers licence to Prepar3D. Hopefully I have time to install the software this weekend.I have seen videos that people has gotten the NGX to work fine. However, I´m still curious about if PMDG will start creating products from the ground up for Prepar3D?Thanks,Johan Johan Gothenburg(ESGG) Sweden
January 27, 201214 yr However, I´m still curious about if PMDG will start creating products from the ground up for Prepar3D?Here is the answer for your question.Regarding Prepar3D - as far as we know (and I haven't seen anything to suggest otherwise) - P3D isn't a consumer product. The ESP license they're using allows for use in the professional/training markets. Unless they find a way to convert that license into a consumer one and produce a low cost version (relative to the professional one) I'm not sure I see how this is a viable platform for a developer like us just yet. --------------------- Gabriel Diaz
