Payware Aircraft

Featured Replies

With regard to payware I base my purchase and flying decisions on how I like to fly.I prefer bush flying in interesting terrain and variable real-time weather....stick and rudder stuff. So yes my Aerosoft Beaver X (with and without floats), Carenado C208, and Aerosoft DH-6 Twin Otter are in constant use along with my newly acquired Carenado C337. I also fly my XP payware STMA Aviat Husky quite a bit. I have flown jets and have one payware jet package but it bored me to tears....so i don't fly it.I also fly the payware STMA PC-12/47 a ton within XP.About once a month I boot up the venerable F1 ATR72-500 as well.....but I really do stick with what I love flying. So after all that....with one exception my payware is always being flown.

I would have to say that the bulk of the money I have spent on add-on aircraft has been a complete waste, I always find that I go back to the same few aircraft very rapidly, in some cases without completing a flight......The ones that I think I have had my money's worth out of:Eaglesoft CJ1 (version 1, been replaced now)Eaglesoft CX (version 1 & 2)Aerosoft Twin OtterFlight 1 PC12RealAir Turbine & Piston DukeLotus L-39and of course the NGXWith what I already have I have pretty much given up buying aircraft now..... If something comes along on Flight 1 that I fancy I may give it a try, but it would have to be something pretty special for me to get it otherwise...G

Yes, I must confess most of the aircraft add-ons I have bought over the years have not lasted very long and looked much more promising than they actually turned out to be. I have a core group of maybe a dozen or so which I would never uninstall and will be eternally grateful I bought but every now and then I have a clear out and get rid of, if not the aircraft then maybe all but one of the paints. I don't buy anywhere near as much as I used to and there are some developers I would never buy from again. The last one I bought was the Iris Mudhen which is definately a keeper. Before that the Bronco which I am also very pleased with and I think it was the Carenado 337 before that which will also stay in the hanger. But usually I go for many months before I am tempted.

Wow this is very interesting. Thank you for all the awesome comments. So I guess the idea is at some point buying payware aircraft will waste some money some of the time. But without the excersize a person could miss out on some truly amazing aircraft experiences. So it appears I will waste some money. Too bad the developers couldnt just upgrade the aircraft at a lower cost. I suppose some do that but without new money I guess some companies would dry up. Never heard of Lotus so I will check that out. The rest I have heard of. I'm thinking about the Caranado P46T as my next purchase. The video looks awesome and I would like a turbo jet. The price seems right. I just can make myself spend $50 or $60 bucks on a single airplane. Just too much. No matter what the detail is.O yea I forgot I am looking for a King Air for FSX... I have seem some in development I think?? and I know there was one for FS2004. Anyone know of one for FSX?

Sadly, no good ones. I have the Aeroworx King Air 200 for FS2004 and it is simply superb. I still have FS2004 installed just to fly this aircraft. No FSX turboprop comes close.I've bought too many aircraft and fly too few of them that's for sure. It all depends on what you enjoy. I like simulation so I only fly aircraft that have authentic systems and really good manuals and tutorials included. I also try to get the real aircraft POHs. I usually spend 100-200 hours flying each aircraft, most often simulating real flights done by real operators and airlines.
