January 27, 201214 yr It's monitor decision time with the new system I am putting together. I'd love to get some feedback from my flightsim colleagues. I've boiled it down to two guys:http://www.amazon.co...r/dp/B005JN9310http://www.amazon.co...K/ref=de_a_smtdI'm not pushing Amazon, it was just easier to link their site. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.Lee Edited January 27, 201214 yr by Midnight Music Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
January 27, 201214 yr The Dell is an IPS panel...I don't think the Samsung is. IPS gives really brilliant color reproduction--on my Dell U3011 monitors, the magenta flight director steering bars, for example, are very bright, much like the real thing. On a TFT display, magenta is dull and washed out in comparison.Odd that the IPS is cheaper...that's usually not the case. January 27, 201214 yr The dell is a better monitor, it has an IPS display and that gives you a much better viewing angle.
January 27, 201214 yr Author IPS it is! The Dell 2410 has an 6ms response time and the 2412 has an 8ms response time, otherwise they seem the same. Does that make any difference in FSX? Edited January 27, 201214 yr by Midnight Music Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
January 27, 201214 yr IPS it is! The Dell 2410 has an 6ms response time and the 2412 has an 8ms response time, otherwise they seem the same. Does that make any difference in FSX?The 2410 also has a nicer articulated/height adjustable stand, an HDMI input port, and some other goodies that the 2412 doesn't.As far as response time, my U3011 monitors have a 7ms gray-to-gray response, and it's not been an issue for FS, FPS games, or video. January 27, 201214 yr Author Thanks for all the help guys, I'm going to go with the 2410.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
January 27, 201214 yr I would first read the reviews on this monitor. Apparently it has really really bad color problem. Blue/Green from one edge to the other, when viewing yellow... very disturbing some say.HP ZR24W. Apart from some noise problems (not all models) and that it's very bright, no known problems known. I hope you can return the screen if you buy it (if you don't like it).
January 28, 201214 yr Author I'll check out the HP monitor. I thought that company was on the skids.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
January 28, 201214 yr Author Follow up, a conversation with Dell techs reveals that the newer U2410 models have the greenish issue fixed. I just have to be sure I get a newer model.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
January 28, 201214 yr Thanks for the info. Could you somehow tell what the "newer" versions are? If I would order, how would I know I have a newer model?
January 30, 201214 yr Author Got the U2410 monitor, it just arrived. It looks fantastic! I think Dell is only shipping the newer models. The colors are brilliant, I don't see any problems. I turned the brightness down a little bit, that's it! Wait until I pair it with my new Alienware rig that is coming next month. I'll report here again.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
January 30, 201214 yr I was thinking of getting it. My oldie Samsung 245B is really old. Colors are terrible already, and not speaking about the bad viewing angle.Say, how is the angle? Lets say radius of 40degrees up and down, do you see *any* brightness change?
January 30, 201214 yr Screenshots would be nice please.WH http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
January 30, 201214 yr Author Once I pair it with the new rig that's coming, I will really test it out. I just wanted to make sure it was okay so I don't have to send it back. I should have my new system up and running by mid Feb. This monitor is for the new system. My old Samsung Syncmaster T240HD is great and a tried and true warhorse. I will retire it to one of my work only computers. But for our favorite hobby, it is time for a newer and fresher look!Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
