January 31, 201214 yr While doing a quick search in this thread it seems I may have an issue others describe. But I want to make sure it's the same thing. I've created a 30 sec youtube video to illustrate my problem. The flashes appear in the first few seconds, around 11 sec, and near the end of the video. It's not lightning and it's not my lights (sometimes strobe lights appear in the VC with addon planes). System in specs and I'm running FSX Acceleration DX9 with max settings in the J41 config panel.Has PMDG addressed this issue since the release of the J41? If not what can be done about it?Video: Edited January 31, 201214 yr by ryanbatcund | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 31, 201214 yr Author Disregard... it looks like it might be lightning. I was checking the metars in the area and none said TS... then I recalled I was flying the tutorial doh!! There are TS in the tutorial weather.. so the flashes probably were lightning. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 31, 201214 yr Commercial Member Yeah if you get the flashing polygons you'll know it in a second. Not mistakable. Looks like lightening to me too. Noah Bryant
February 1, 201214 yr You're right, there's thunderstorms :)These flashing rectangles are usualli in the corners or in the mid-windshield, and only, when visible icing is selected in JS41 config tool.I used to have them back in the days, now they are gone - do not remember which nVidia Inspector settings change cured me.If it is a help to anybody, I use 16xAF with 4xSS plus SUPERVCAA 64X 4V 12 Bartłomiej Ender
February 10, 201214 yr Author This must be the issue.... It happens anytime I load from another aircraft that's complex... basically anything payware... argh!So 'm supposed to reduce config settings or what?http://youtu.be/Ltnw--bv-74 | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
February 10, 201214 yr Commercial Member Yep - told you you'd know it when you saw it. :wink:In the beginning, I found that if I were to load the aircraft at a tiny default airport first, then move it to a complex field the problem did not occur. However, since I've got my new computer (which is substantially more powerful) I've found that this occurs no matter where I start up.The only sure-fire fix is to turn of the visible icing effects. February 10, 201214 yr Author The only sure-fire fix is to turn of the visible icing effects.Ok rats... does the annunciator still tell you you're encountering ice though? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
February 10, 201214 yr You only have to turn the effects off for the view from inside the cockpit. You can leave it on for the external view - or at least that's what I do, and have had no issues.CheersMike Dryden Mike Dryden

February 17, 201214 yr What I do at times is load the airplane from an outside view, wait for it to load properly and then switch to the cockpit view. At a small airport that is. And lately I have not been bothered with those flickering polygons.Might be worth the try to see if this works for you as well. Then again, I also have scenery (eg. Andras field) that has that same effect at times, no matter what plane I load, even default FSX ones. So my guess is that it must be some FSX bug/limitation in rendering complex graphics. Or something along those lines.Anyway, as long as I load the J41 at a small airport from an outside view, and then go where I want to and switch to the cockpit, I am fine. Marc Baas
