  1. What I do at times is load the airplane from an outside view, wait for it to load properly and then switch to the cockpit view. At a small airport that is. And lately I have not been bothered with those flickering polygons.Might be worth the try to see if this works for you as well. Then again, I also have scenery (eg. Andras field) that has that same effect at times, no matter what plane I load, even default FSX ones. So my guess is that it must be some FSX bug/limitation in rendering complex graphics. Or something along those lines.Anyway, as long as I load the J41 at a small airport from an outside view, and then go where I want to and switch to the cockpit, I am fine.
  2. There is also a way more simple method.Create a new default flight at your favourite airport. Use one of the default cessnas. Make sure you turn everything off, even the magnetos. Then save the flight and make sure you check the 'default flight' checkbox. Then load the J41 and make the cockpit cold & dark. Then save the flight again, but this time not as a default flight and of course under a different name. You don't want to overwrite the default flight you made before.Start procedure is:1) Start FSX2) Load default flight with cessna3) Load flight with J41Done! You can switch to any livery you like and then take it to the airport from which you want to depart, but you will always have a cold & dark cockpit when you start. At least, for me it seems to be working so far.
  3. This was exactly what I was thinking. This is just a move to make way more money on the game than they did before. This is going to cost flight enthusiasts hundreds of dollars to get what we used to get for only 70 bucks. And we still have to wait and see if it will even come close to what one would expect as an improvement over FSX.I'm not even going to consider touching this one, that's for sure.
  4. Great news!Dare I say it? Does this mean that there is hope on the horizon for the JS41 as well in the nearby future? :(
  5. OMG! Finally something that I can work with for my VFR flights that does not require me to follow a full study of all aspects of flight planning. This one looks really good and impressive. Downloading it now, I have got to try that one out. Thanks for the link mate. Brilliant!
  6. Thanks for your reply Joe, much appreciated. I guess I got the perks of the game then. Oh well, I'll just edit the cessna config file and make sure not to select the caravan white livery before selecting another one if I want color. Let's hope that with the next version they QA a bit better this time.
  7. I can't imagine that I am the only one who faces this problem. C'mon guys, give me a hand.
  8. Hi all, I have been using FSX for a few years now. I never noticed however, that of the default planes there are some odd things going on with the liveries that come with FSX. First of all, I am running FSX with SP2 (not the excelleration expansion pack). When I want to select a plane and I go through all available liveries for all planes (have the corresponding checkbox checked), the first thing that catches my attention is that the cessna C172SP red&gold colored livery is plain WHITE. Mind you, I have the Italian version of FSX, so I am not sure to what extend I am dealing with a lost translator. Then, when I get to the Cessna Caravan, all liveries are plain WHITE, even though the thumbnails suggest differently. Even there, the thumbnail of the white livery is exactly the same as that one of the Global Freightways livery. Now I am not sure if maybe one of the service packs might be responsible for this, but I do know that commercial add-ons are not at fault, because I just now finished a clean reinstall of my whole system (Windows 7 x64), to rule that option out. When I google the problem I am having I find nothing on the web, hence the reason I am posting my problem here, hoping that someone might be able to help me solve it. It is not a huge issue to me, I mostly fly add-on planes, but in the rare event that I would want to fly the Cessna Caravan, I wouldn't mind having some color on my plane! Anyway, if you guys have any ideas as to what I might be able to do to fix this small, but annoying, problem, I'd be very appreciative of that.
  9. Yeah, it is what I thought myself. I did a repaint or two once of an aircraft, but believe me, you don't want me to repeat that. Thanks for the link though. I will have a look today, and keep my fingers crossed that maybe someone will feel inclined to do a few repaints for this model. It really would be nice to have a bit more variety in my hangar.
  10. Hi all, Loving this plane, was just wondering if someone knows where I can find repaints, since my search for one on Avsim turned up with the whopping amount of just ONE repaint. There must be more out there than just that one that I found. So if any of you guys know of a decent repaint, please let me know. Marc
  11. My thoughts exactly. I also get the account suspended message and sent their support a quick note to see if it was just me. So far, no reply. It does make one think that it might have been hacked. A displeased customer with a hacking tool, maybe? Who knows....I bet in the following days we'll hear more about it.
  12. No kidding!? Yep, I am running DX10, that's true. I'll try it out right away, thanks for the tip mate.MarcEdit: tried it, and works like a charm. Amazing that changing DX version downgrades your product. Anyway, thanks again for the tip, I got my labels back!
  13. Hi all,For whatever reason, I seem to have lost the cockpit labels in full screen mode. In windowed mode they work fine, but in full screen they are gone.I have no idea which addon is responsible for this. I thought I'd narrowed it down to ASX, but upon closer investigation that was not the culprit. The option to have them on in the settings menu is activated, so they should be visible, however when switching to full screen mode, I can do whatever I want, my cockpit labels are gone.If needed I can list my addons later, but meanwhile, does any of you have an idea what the cause might be, and more importantly, how I get them back? Thanks in advance for any tips.Marc
  14. Couldn't agree more!Shame is that I did honestly try FSX for some time. But after an average of 10-15 fps on a high end system, no matter what tweaking I did, I in the end switched back completely and shelved FSX.Also, the quantity of good quality add-ons for FSX doesn't even come close to those of FS9.We'll see how the next FS will turn out, but I for sure will keep on flying FS9 for quite some time still. I have no problem to churn out 40fps locked steady with ASV6.5, any add-on plane and scenery. With FSX one can only dream about those possibilities.Kivech
