February 28, 200422 yr Has anyone managed to act as instructor in another player's cockpit in FS9?I seem to remember someone posting either here or in one of the ngs saying they had done this.I tried a few weeks ago with the PMDG 737NG by hosting a MP session with a buddy also in the PMDG 737NG. I switched to observer mode and 'jumped' into his cockpit but the instruments did not read the same as his and my position in FSNav was not the same as his.If it is possible will it only work with default aircraft?TIA

I am not able to 'jump into other's cockpit' even. How did you accomplish this? Please read this thread http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...&mesg_id=187540Did you had any luck finally?thanks//sri
April 26, 200422 yr I don't think it's possible to do this with the present version of MSFS without some smart 3rd party programming which as far as I know, doesn
April 26, 200422 yr this would be awesome! my dream someday would be say to have a complicated aircraft for example the CS727 and then have a full crew of 3 - real people hooked up together through the net and also voice and be able to go through complete checklist and everything, man that make long flights a lot more funciao!Brian S Ciao!
April 28, 200422 yr Author You are correct Tony, see my last post in this threadhttp://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=165013&page=2
August 25, 200520 yr SURPRISE !! This was possible in FS98 and any aircraft even on Vatsim.ctrl+shift+O .There was not much interest in it at the time even with VA airlines looking to train pilots? Sometimes the old days were best.Regards,Derick
August 25, 200520 yr Commercial Member The trouble with sharing the same cockpit over the internet is that unless the aircraft you're in conforms 100 percent to the Microsoft SDK programming conventions, you won't be able interact with each other's plane (flip switches, etc). This isn't a problem for the Default airplanes, but causes nothing but problems if you're trying to use commercial 3rd party airplanes like the PMDG 737 or ATR that use a lot of custom, non SDK code. Other than that, internet flying is a brilliant concept.Bryan B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
August 26, 200520 yr Try FSnet. It was highlighted in PC Pilot magazine last month and sure sounds promising although their forum seems to suggest it still needs work. It's a free beta though. You can find it at www.gates.to. Click the link for FSNet at the top. Let us know how it works!David
August 26, 200520 yr FSNet allowes you to do this with all but the most complicated aircraft, it doesnt work with the PMDGs or the LVD. but almost all the others work good....www.gates.to
August 26, 200520 yr Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!What about Observer with so-called "enhanced default" like the RAS 172 and helicopters with enhanced flight models? As long as the guages and switches mesh it's O.K. I guess. But if you're flying a DC-3-IFR 3 tank conversion maybe it's not. I think I'll definitely give FSNet a try, but one thing is a mystery. I know they might display ads in the ATC text until the product is registered, and like many others if it doesn't affect performance or prove uninstallable I can live with it to try it out. Especially since I can't even buy it yet. But I disabled ATC text almost the first thing after every FS9 install so far, and I don't think I'm the only one to do that. So unless there is separate coding to ensure the text is displayed until the product is uninstalled or registered, the whole business concept seems off.Best Regards, Donny:-wave
August 26, 200520 yr > But if you're flying a DC-3-IFR 3 tank conversion maybe it's not. I've several hours beta testing FSNet in the MAAM-SIM cockpit without a problem, Donny. It's just great. Obviously the two pilots just need to make sure that they are flying identical versions i.e. three tank or four tank.Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
August 26, 200520 yr Author Good to see that the MAMM DC-3 works with FSNet Mark. Does it work from cold & dark or is it only the main controls that work?Rgds
