February 3, 201214 yr Interresting...http://www.anandtech.com/show/5458/the-radeon-hd-7970-reprise-pcie-bandwidth-overclocking-and-msaa
February 3, 201214 yr Hence pci 3.0 is already available today with a socket 2011 CPU and a 7970 card? No need to wait for ivy bridge then. Has anybody done any test with fsx?
February 3, 201214 yr The Intel 3820 could be an excellent CPU for FSX paired with an AMD7970 or 7950 ( when released)http://www.anandtech.com/show/5276/intel-core-i7-3820-review-285-quadcore-sandy-bridge-e/5
February 3, 201214 yr If someone wants to lend me a HD7990... or two I could be convinced to be a tester. :LMAO: Daniel Fernandez
February 4, 201214 yr looks like the hopes for PCIe 3 have been a little flattened. Edited February 4, 201214 yr by VirginAus737 Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
February 4, 201214 yr Author That's why I posted the article....the question is...was the PCI-e 3 completely saturated with their test or was there some more room to play with, what will be the result using FSX to test.
February 4, 201214 yr It might just be now that GPU's are not just powerful enough for the extra bandwidth. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
February 4, 201214 yr It might just be now that GPU's are not just powerful enough for the extra bandwidth. And remember.... FSX is a "special" engine. It will be able to take advantage of PCIe3 much better than regular optimized software.
February 5, 201214 yr I will remain skeptical about that. I will be saving my money from Ivy Bridge and maybe going for an IB-E down the line or something because at the moment, I still dont think I will magically get fantastic results, or enough for me to spend the money.
