DIY job on the massive PC cabling

Featured Replies

I'd be interested in seeing that job. I spend many hours tidying up my cables behind my desk and zip tying them to keep them out of view, but I still hate the cables!
Well, I spent two days making this, and pretty happy with the result:1) cable canals around on the walls, all the speaker cables, network cable, power cables, cables coming from the mixer are in there2) wooden holder mounted behind my desk, that was a big DIY job - all made myself - bought wood, got it cut, metal parts, screws, planing etc... holding basically everything that I don't need on my table: switch, power plugs, all excess on cables (oh the many cables )Pictures are worth 1000 words.

Awesome job Srdan! Looks very clean!I need to do this for myself sometime to clean up the mess under my desk.

Great work! Gave me some ideas, as I lack imagination at times. The wooden wire "gutter" is now on my to-do list. I'll have to use some sort of plastic in order to have it go with my desk, but this is great inspiration....Why didn't I think of that?!

Be sure to post pictures Zach!

Thanks guys.

Oooh another FFB2 user there.... I'll be sad when my stick finally dies :(

Yesss, I wonder how did you manage to miss that until now!? I had so many pictures of my system, desktop and everything posted all over...!I hope it's going to hold for quite a while yet. It's been holding very bravely, but be honest, I'm really using it tenderly only. And only for flight sim.But in the end, if it dies, I'm gonna have an excuse to get a Warthog - that would be my next stick. Or if just financially out of the reach, the T16000. I know, no FF, but I guess getting PFC Yoke is going to get my used to not having FF any more. I'll live.

Zach, if it interests you, this is how it looked before (found some old pics on the iPhone):Shortly said: a mess.

Mine is a nightmare... but I really don't care because the desk is shaped like an L and butts up against the corner of the room...

Well, you were making an honest effort! Mine is currently locked down with zip ties in inconspicuous places, but I still have a cluster**** behind my rudder pedals. I'll use an approach like yours to solve those pesky cables.

That's a nice job Srdan. I have TONS of cabling from my midi workstation components plus FSX stuff and because it's all on a built in counter I have not tried to use your approach--but I could I'd just have to drill holes in the counter. Nice!Noel

Jeez Word Not Allowed, haven't you heard of duct tape?
Either was this a joke or you didn't see before-after pictures? :shok:

Definitely joke. Paperless - who needs stinkin paperless - give me WIRELESS! BTW I'm jealous of your open back. I have all my stuff tucked into a bookcase computer niche and any time I need to get at the power I have to move the furniture. Great fix.Regards,

Hehehe... well thanks. Maybe this inspires you to do some DIY
