Flying In The Former Eastern Block Countries

Featured Replies

Hi, All,I have recently begun flying in some of the old Eastern Block countries (Ukraine, Poland, Russia, etc) using FSX w/Acceleration and I have notinced a peculiar problem. Whenever I try to set up a flight through flight planner, the only routing it will allow me to use is GPS. Period. It says there are NO nav to nav, high flightways, or low flightways. It says this whether I try setting up VFR or IFR, and it doesn't matter what aircraft I try to use.Has anyone else seen this? Do you know a way to fix it? I have tried setting up flights in Flight Sim Commander 9 and importing them into FSX; FSX refuses them. I don't get it. You may have noticed from my other posts that I tend to find the odd problems...Hopefully my finding these problems and hopefully solutions will help others down the road. Thanks everyone!Steve

My guess: When FSX was released getting data for NAV aids might have been impossible for some of these countries. Lots of good freeware from Eastern Europe though. That might rectify some of the problems.

HelloIt works fine here with both the FSX planner and Flightsim Commander. Here is a High altitude airways flight between Stansted to Khrabrovo that I have just generated in the default planner

Hi, Simmerhead and Mad Dog,Thanks for your replies! I've been finding many great addons and aircraft for Russia and the surrounding countries. I'm curious as to why my flight planner does not work for those areas of the world. I may have to try re-installing and see if that helps. Thanks!

Ok, after playing around with Flight Sim Commander 9 and FSX, I've been able to get this result: if I set up the route and save it to my FSX file in My Documents, I can then open it in FSX' flight planner and load it. This allows me to use VOR - VOR, High altitude, and low altitude. However, I can not just set it up totally through FSX Flight Planner. Very odd.

Same here. I've never seen that problem, although I've been also using FSC mostly from the start.
