February 11, 201214 yr Hey gang,Just a quick question - I have always run my overclocked system with hyperthreading enabled. I have seen some posts in the past, that gave an indication that perhaps performance in FSX was improved somewhat, with hyperthreading disabled? So just curious, what do most folks here do, run with it enabled or disabled? I have seen some posts in the past, that gave an indication that perhaps performance in FSX was improved somewhat, with hyperthreading disabled? So just curious, what do most folks here do, run with it enabled or disabled?Hyperthreading doesn't help FSX performance, but it does add more work (=heat) to the CPU, so turning it off usually allows for a faster overclock. The conventional wisdom is to turn it off for FSX. February 11, 201214 yr Author Well this is wierdJust completed a flight in FSX with hyperthreading disabled. Flight went smooth, exited out of FSX when done. Checked RealTemp, my max cpu core temp was probably 5-6c lower, than when I had HT enabled , as you mentioned it would be.So I was browsing to this forum , then my system just froze, complete lockup, just browsing and doing nothing else.First lockup I have ever had with this sytem in many months of use at my current overclock settings.Wierd it would do after having disabled HT... perhaps I should re-enable it , strange. Thanks for the feedback! February 11, 201214 yr Author Yes well maybe, but then it is a mighty strange one. System has been rock solid for a long time, then I get a system freeze shortly after disabling HT.I will give it another go just to see what happens. Certainly doesn't make sense, I would think if anything it might should be more stable with HT disabled rather than enabled... Don B

February 12, 201214 yr From what I have gathered from others and myself, FSX has a ZERO percent change in performance from HT on to HT off.
February 12, 201214 yr And the temperature sinked a lot when I disabled it. Caio Belmock Mascarenhas de Campos
February 12, 201214 yr Caio, you have to do a stability test. I just put my computer through one. I'm running 5Ghz on watercooling and very very high Vcore, so I just wanted to check if my PC was still really stable (I do this every couple of months).I went for a long Prime95 test - 22hrs stable without a crash. Should be enough. Temps max 83c.Fullsize
