Hotas Warthog Video Overview

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I've just finished a short video looking at all the switch assignment possibilities with the Hotas Warthog. I hope those who may be considering the purchase of this controller will find it helpful and also those who question why so many of us insist on flying the NGX with this great piece of hardware. EDIT: 48 assignment possibilities!

You've really got me considering this thing. I have been thinking about it for a long time, albeit for the A-10 instead of FS, but you've definitely got me considering it.Side note, I've been dying to ask you who that is in your avatar? Looks so familiar...

Noah, if you are considering the Warthog for the A10, then IMO it's a no brainer! As for the avatar, LOL, it's me...

Lol well I guess it's not you I'm thinking of than :LMAO: ....but now I got thinking about it and this is why it seems familiar to me:http://heymedia.wordpress.com/2008/10/09/a-look-into-the-shining/Now that I'm looking at it it's not much like you but I suppose that's what I always thought of when I saw your avatar! Ever seen The Shining?

Howard, I have the Warthog + Saitek Cessna pedals. I have it set up via FSUIPC. Like you, I found it impossible to get the brakes to come on evenly together. I got round this by using rescan in FSUIPC, press the left pedal, then in the dropdown windows selected both right and left brake. Rescan and press right pedal, and select right and left brakes. On the calibration page, give them both (but equal) amounts of slope (I use 10) This gives me very smooth, progressive braking, but of course no differential braking. Also, instead of using the switch on the side of the throttle for reverse thrust, why not pull the throttle back to the idle detent, open your FSX button assignments..engine/F2 change assignment, then lift the throttle over the idle detent (button 30) and click OK (make sure the repeat slider is full right) Much more realistic, IMO.Russell.

Mmm, had my first breakdown with the Warthog last night. The grey hat switch on the joystick started playing up, and within a few minutes stopped working altogether. I sent an email to Thrustmaster support, then today thought, what the hell, and removed the four screws and removed the top. One of the wires is TOO SHORT and pulls across the spring at the back of the switch, The spring traps the wire, pulling it everytime you use the hat switch, which eventually pulls it away from the solder point. I soldered another bit of wire on, making it long enough to loop round without going near the spring. It now works fine again, in fact the switch is a bit smoother now that the wire is'nt interfering with the spring. Although the repair had me up and running again quickly, I suppose it will have buggered my warranty. :Thinking:Russell.

That's a bummer Russell, though good that you're back in the skies!
