February 12, 201214 yr After figuring out to load PA46 in my C:fsx/microsoft flt sim fsx file instead of program files/86, I have a airplane but no matter how many times I cycle the radios on/off I have no display. I obviously have the generator on and the avionics switch on. When I copied the files to where I wanted/needed them, I notices all the gauge files were still zipped so I unzipped them into the gauge folder....all the .bmp's are there. No fun flying without airspeed, radios, gps, etc. BTW even with the radio knob "on" I can't select frequencies. Any help would be appreciated. Tom
February 12, 201214 yr Do not unzip the gauges.. they belong in a cab file!Alternately, you can create a folder for them where they reside unzipped.. butnot in the Gauges folder! Bert
February 13, 201214 yr I would re-install into the location where you want the airplane to be andnot do any copying of files.. Bert
February 13, 201214 yr Author So would I, but Carenado in its wisdom, only installs it in ProgramFiles(86)/Games....I don't have the option to "browse" and install where I want.
February 13, 201214 yr So would I, but Carenado in its wisdom, only installs it in ProgramFiles(86)/Games....I don't have the option to "browse" and install where I want.I got my FSX installed in D:FSX and the installer finds the folder correctly. So you must have your FSX installed in ProgramFiles(86)/Games.... as the installer takes the FSX folder from the registry directly. If you have installed FSX to a complete another folder there seems to be a problem regarding the FSX installation itself inside the registry leading to it. Just a clue!Don´t know how to fix that in the registry by case, but I heard about a kind of registry repair tool for FSX. Edited February 13, 201214 yr by andy1975 Best regards,
February 13, 201214 yr Thins one? http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library Worth a look indeed. That registry entry seems to influence a lot of things on the actual operation of FSX.
February 14, 201214 yr Author The problem is not in the registry. All my stock and add-on flying aircraft all show up in the FSX menu selection for me to fly. All my aircraft have functioning gauges EXCEPT the PA46. There is no avionics. Generator is on, avionics master is on, flt director is on..........if I turn the radio knobs on, I can't select any freqs or comm 1/comm 2, I can't select hdg, nav, alt, gps, bc,can't change freqs on the radios, no DME......if its avionics, it doesn't work....
February 14, 201214 yr Maybe the copy protection prevents any use of those. Can you reinstall with the antivirus off, right click the installer and choose 'run as admin' and stuff?
February 16, 201214 yr Then I'm clueless, sorry. Maybe write them and see if they have an idea. That's the email way. :(
February 28, 201214 yr Author I got it fixed....not sure what I did though.....only now is no WX radar...I've gone back and forth with them and they offered a refund or another acft. Very nice of them.....but the acft is fun to fly so I guess I'll just do without the WX radar or post for help on here.
February 29, 201214 yr The WX radar is a bit hokey anyway - I never turn mine on.. and the performance is better without it. Bert
February 29, 201214 yr Same here. I can turn it on and sometimes it shows something, but most of the time it's idle. The CS WR is doing better and works fine. I've replaced the C208 WR too. Same gauge as it seems.
March 2, 201214 yr The WX radar is a bit hokey anyway - I never turn mine on.. and the performance is better without it.Yep, same here no weather showing up and ugly hit on performance! Hoped to be able to retrofit a RXP WX500 to it but no luck! Performance would be considerably better! Best regards,
