Can't do ILS approach twice?

Featured Replies

Hey boys and girls, today i haven't gone to school as i am a little bit sick, so used the time to practice on a go around.after going around and circling back, i hit the loc/vor button, and after i established I hit the app button as i should but this time the plane didn't start to decent when it needed and stayed in the same altitude, what am i doing wrong?BTW when i am doing a visual approach and want to go around the toga switch isn't working so do i need to arm the auto throttle and then hit the toga switch or bring the throttle up manually? thanks!

Reselect the approach in the FMC DEP/ARR page, and recycle the F/D's (both of them).

Ok, we'll do, so my problem is a known one? glad it did LOL.

No, your problem is with your procedure. When you pass a waypoint, it is taken off your list. You can not get the AP to go 'back' there but you can program a new route which has the same way point. The same happens when you abort a landing. Having effectivly told the FMC that you are not going to land where you said you would, you have to tell the FMC where you want to land instead before it can start to help you again.

thank you, and I didn't mean that it's pmdg problem, i meant that's you know what i did wrong and it's solvable.

Hmm, that doesn't sound right, having to recycle the FDs, RW anyway. You should be able to just select a new approach. I haven't flown anything with IAN, but that seems a bit too much. What happens if you don't recycle?

I've done some go-around/missed approach practice in the NGX. Reselecting the approach is necessary if you want the approach to display on the ND, but it shouldn't be a mandatory procedure in order to get the autopilot to track the Loc/GS in APPR mode. In theory, a good vector to the final approach course with the radios properly tuned should be all you need. This is all you'd have if your FMS decided to take a nap (ie, inop). As for the FD, I never once recycled that. It stayed active for my entire flight that included multiple go-arounds.

You was possibly above the FL required to intercept the glide slope.

first, i would like to do it, but i don't know how, as i have never done this before, and second, can someone confirm that at manual approach when going around i need to engage the AP and then hit the to/ga or just move the throttle forward? thanks.

Hit TOGA, advance the T/Ls and call for F15. After that it similar to a F15 takeoff, you just need to add the A/T at some point when you are ready to add automation. Don't engage autopilot and then hit TOGA, since that will just turn it off again.

Just press 'V' and it will save the current screen as a .BMP file in your 'My Pictures' folder. Convert it to .JPG before uploading it by opening it with paint and using 'Save As'.

Really? Are you below 2500agl? What happens when you hit TOGA? (What modes in the FMA?)
