GSX - Replacment to AES

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,I have been a fan of AES for a long time now, especcially after the newest update adds some nice textures.I was wandering, is GEX the replacement of AES? If that is the case I will install it and get it today. What limitations does GEX have, are you happy with it?Alex

If you already have bought FSDT airports you can use GSX there for free. There are also three non FSDT airports included, one of them was EDDM I guess. Just try it out there. On my other airports I keep using AES.

The great thing about GSX is that you can have that service at default airports.I think GSX is great but I still prefer AES. I think AES provides more services. I recommend you use GSX at an FSDreamteam airport since it's free so that you can make your own evaluation.

So far, I have only had two issues with GSX. The first is that once you have requested pushback the tug driver pulls up the the plane and asks if you are ready. This question is rhetorical. If you pull up the menu to answer, you will cancel the pushback. They are planning on changing the language on this issue. The second issue is that you are not able to push straight back at airports without specific push instructions, only left or right. They have also stated that this will be addressed shortly.Other than that, I have really enjoyed the product. Watching the animated men actually enter the aircraft with food service carts is sweet. I have not regretted the purchase one bit.

I have both. As things stand now, I prefer AES at my activated airfields. Why?:1) With AES as soon as you arrive at the gate things start! With GSX you have to command something.2) Linked to above GSX uses the stupid FSX jetways, which aside from yet another keyboard interaction, the gates are awful. (I'm not a fan of loads of key commands)3) Pushback in GSX is cumbersome however they've already fixed the main issue (the end was very drawn out) but there is room for improvement.4) Service vehicles are a bit nonsensical e.g. arrive in your 747 and GSX dispatches 1 baggage loader that would be used to fill a Dash 8.The above all being said, the developers behind GSX seem willing to respond and deal with peoples criticisms very quickly (pushback sequence and customisation fixes have already been implemented). The update process can usually be done within FSX without having to restart it.There is no denying that graphically GSX is far superior and the fact that if you buy it you then have it for all airports. I don't think I will be activating AES at any further airfields.

Do these two programs work together? I ask because AES does give some free support to some of their airports. You can have the best of both if they work together.

A pilot is always learning and I LOVE to learn.

+1 - sums up my feelings as well. Although I *might* buy AES credits still. as it seems much more seamless to me (at this point in GSX development, anyway).
