FlightDeck Sound Effects Panel

Has anyone been able to add Marcus Thompsons vintage FlightDeck Sound Effects Panel from the FS2004 era to the NGX? I know how to but wasnt sure if there would be conflicts before I try.

I don't see what it could conflict. All it does is play an audio file.

I doubt anyone before you has tried it.Bringing in anything from FS9 and trying to merge it with the NGX....it's just wrong somehow.

I went ahead and added it last night without any problems other then the sound is too low but I am able to find my own messges online and record them at my own liking. I replaced the window for the Fire Alarm Switches and placed the FDSX panel on there.Creative labs has a nice utility that records what ever is heard over the internet so technically you are not downloading a file but just recording it as you hear it. On sounddogs.com there are several good files that play in their entirety. I can find announcements and gate sounds. I save them in the WAV format and place them in the FDSX folder. So far so good. I even modified some of the FSDT GSX sounds for boarding.

Hi t4murphy, I have just downloaded this panel too, as I really only want to use it with the NGX. I installed it fne with the default 737-800 but when I came to install it with the NGX I was lost. The panel cfg is different and so is the aircraft cfg, any chance you could share your success story, cheers.

I am away this weekend on vacation away from my computer. I will post a copy of the lines needed on the panel config. If you can find the main panel that all other variants use ( 800WL) then open the panel config which contains all the windows for the panels like overhead Panel, center panel...etc . I used the one for the fire panel and replaced it with the FSDX panel. Make a copy of the original panel config. Then you use the shift + 5 or whatever panel you replace. I can do without most of the 2D panels but the fire panel is the least needed. After installing the FSDX gauges , I went into the gauge config file for each FSDX gauge and change the sound level to 100 from the 90 or 85 you will see when opening the file. It's the only number in the file so you can't go wrong. You don't have to do this but it helps. I rerecorded the sounds as WAV files at a louder level with my Creative Sound software. I changed all the boarding music sound files and replaced them with different boarding sounds from various countries. I found one for Easy Jet, Virgin Blue, Lufthansa and Air Canada. I found them on You Tube and recorded the sound when the video was playing. I can send them to you if you want them since I have them recorded. In the gauge config file found in the gauge file you can modify the file to play WAV files by changing the .mp3 to .WAV just open any of the FSDX gauge files with wordpad and you will see what I am talking about. You don't have to do all of those things but sure makes it more real since if you are like me I fly about 50% of my flights in the UK and Australia since I have the Orbx Australia and most of the UK2000 sceneries . Good luck and when I get home I will post the config files. I can email the sound files also. Glad to help fellow flightsimmers.

Cheers matey, much appreciated. I too am away from my sim until Sunday evening. I'll try and sort things then. If you could email the sound files that would be very much appreciated. I'll PM you my personal email address. Thanks again.

Hi t4murphy thanks for thre help. I have followed your advice and got it all working brilliantly! I just have to edit some of the sound files as they are a little low in volume, but apart from that it's great! Thanks again. EDIT: just found the right click brings up a volume utility... nice. This is such a brilliant bit of freeware.

I would like to do this too but I don't have a clue how to do it :( I don't have enough knowledge on how to do these sorts of things :(

This has been added to the NGX with success. It is available on FlightSim.com. Look up Flight Deck Sound Effects Panel as your search.
