Saitek throttle lever assigment

Featured Replies

Hey guys,I´m currently saving up fpr a Saitek yoke with 2 throttle quadrants and pedals. I´ll mostly use it for flying heavies like the NGX. Therefore I´d like to assign one lever to the flap lever with its various stages. Is that possible at all?

Best regards, Steffen

Hi mateyes thats exactly how i have it setup.I have the outside lever as flaps and the next to as throttles.you can also assign the two sepearate positions under the throttles as reverse thrust for both engines.i use FSUIPC to do that.the flaps and throttles can be set inside fsx in the AXIS settings.works really wellon the second quadrant i use one of the levers to activate the spoiler.one thing i would mention is that if your thinking about adding any other units,i can't get either the Multi panel or switch panel to work with the NGX.only thing that works is the gear lever on the switch panel.steve-0 :(

Yes, woth FSUIPC you can assign an axis to control flaps. But you might want to consider getting the GF-LGTII module from GoGlight (Landing Gear, Trim -elevator, rudder, aileron-, Flaps, Fuel Selector) here. Nice metal "mini" rack to go with it here.module_lgt_ii_3_grande.jpg?1923Cheers,- jahman.

I have a couple of Saitek throttle quadrants where the first axis is speedbrake/spoiler, the next two throttle 1 & 2, the next two reverse 1 & 2 and finally flaps on the last axis. As steve-o says it's easy to set up an axis' detent position as reverse also (I do it when I fly the four-engined 747), but I think it's much cooler to have an axis for the reverse. Assigned to the detent position the reverse is either off or on but assigned to an axis you can apply it gradually. Of course to each his own but I also have a Goflight GF-LGT and I almost always end up using the lever on the throttle quadrant. If you have FSUIPC it knows the number of flaps stages the specific airplane has, so I just move it slightly and it doesn't take long to get a really good feeling for how much to move it.

I also have two quadrants, left most lever as spoilers (can arm as well) four middle as throttles (two for pmdg 737 and all for the 747) right most flaps. This was the most tricky set up for me. Using FSUIPC was how I did it but it took a while. As far as reverse thrusters go, I have the throttle levers set at idle just above the lower detent. Then I used button settings to do that , move the lever past the detent to the bottom check the box to assign a key setting. Assign F2 click the box about holding the key until released. (sorry not at the controls right now so the actual names may be different) then I assigned F1 to the action when released box. Now pulling down the throttles past the detent is REV and at mega_shok.gif kts move them up just past the detent to store them.

That´s awesome, guys! I can´t really wait till I get them (2 months or so). I think I´ll have to practice with my 206 at first to "learn" how to fly with an yoke (Flying right handed on the stick and then with the left).

Best regards, Steffen

Hi kristerthanks for the tip.i'll try that..never thought of doing it that way. :smile:steve-0
Steve-o, you're welcome!Don't forget that with FSUIPC you can create different profiles that you assign to an airplane. So I have created a profile called "four engined jet" where I have fours axis for throttle and four detents for reverse. If I pick a four engined jet (well, that would be the queen I guess), I just assign that profile to the airplane and next time I use the airplane, that profile is automatically loaded. I also have a profile called "two engined jet" that I have set up with two levers for throttle and two for reverse as I described. I then assign that profile to PMDG737, LevelD, iFly, QW757... well you get the picture. Oh, I also permanently have my Saitek X45 joystick attached to the computer so when I fly the RealAir SF260, I have created a profile where the joystick handles elevator and ailerons. Automatically loaded of course. I can also pick another SF260 livery and assign a profile where I use the saitek yoke instead. Simply marvellous!
