Ice door

Featured Replies

anyone got a fix for the ice door indicator light? There is a "closed" indicator light there (like for the oil door), but it's not working.Forgive if this was covered already... If so I missed it.

Both are working here. It reads 'ICE DEFLECT' on or off in orange or cyan. It's not so much a simple door, but some venturi 'gate' and an airflow being forced to make a sharp turn before entering the engine. That's to force the solid particles to get deflected. You can also use it on the ground to avoid FOD (foreign object damage).I don't think it's really modelled, but the lights and switches are working.

Yea... Mines not... Its always open (annuciator light) for me no matter what I do with the switch. No biggie though.

Interesting. Works fine for me as well, but I do occasionally have issues with other switches/controls. The FD/AP switch sometimes just seems to stop working, and for the first few days I was convinced that the cabin pressure dial wasn't modeled, as it never turned for me. Persistence led me to figure out that it worked, but that it usually takes several tries before it'll move. In general, click spots just seem a bit "fussy" on this plane for some reason.Scott

That altitude dial gave me a headache too. But I think it needs to be unlocked (no rw technique) with mouse wheel down first, then it moves.

Perhaps install her again. :( You know, with the usual things like right click 'run as admin' and antivirus off. That's the only clue I have if gauges aren't working correctly. I've bought her after SP2 and the version read 1300, then I've installed the optional FDE patch from the Carenado site. If you are running those things, you should be current and the switch should work, hopefully.

Thanks CoolP, I'll have a look at my version... I got the first one the day it released, and added the update when it was out also.ttocs/CoolP : Yes... that cab pres is a mofo... Mine will free up if I left click and hold it, then pull directly left. It takes a couple seconds, and it starts to turn... Then I mouse wheel it to the alt I want... as the wheel moves its pretty good once it gets going... then it's fine rest of the flight.AP Switch gets funky if you "Z" key the ap off... So I started to just us the AP switch to do that. Turning it off and back on seems to reset it however. On a side note, my Fuel Pressure (not GPH) was never in the green arc for the longest time... Now all of a sudden it works! I even sent Car a ticket on both the ice door and the FF gauge, and told them that the cabin pres doesn't drop if you open the pilot window.. They responded with "Good point!" about the window and would issue a patch for the others down the road. They haven't so far... but I think our program mod squad is fixing everything! (Those guys are awesome!)Its a great plane.. Truly... But their beta testers are awful... I found most of what everyone else is quipping about in the first hour of flight.

My cabin pressure dial works sometimes and not others. I actually got the small dial to work the other day... but then it didnt again. I agree some knobs work here and there. My ice door annunicator light works fine. O yea on my suction gauge seems to always register low. I usually gets just into the green during flights but never like I've seen in videos of the real plane.

Update: re Dloaded from caren, installed everything and the patch, and added the Mod Squad updates... And everything works... except... now the green "GEN" light doesn't come on when I finish start up! LOL... get one light to work (ice door), and lose another... unless that's how it supposed to work.I did switch the sound files for the P6's with King air add on from TSS (P6 in this plane sound great, but the blade/prop noise drives me crazy)... but kept the button sounds, fuel press. etc.P47: It takes ah while to get the dials to turn. Just grab it with left mouse/hold, and pull left slowly... then it will start to turn. It's taken up to 5 seconds for me sometimes, but it will turn. Once it does, use the mouse wheel the rest of the way if you have one.ALL: So whats the scoop on the "gen" light... should that stay off until a fault, or is the bulb burned out on mine?

Do you see all lights when you hit that test button? If it's just about the green GEN light, it stays dark here and I can only see it with test. But I get a warning light (red) when the GEN is offline. I'd say that the green GEN should be on when the generator is providing power, hence the green colour. So you are right.I wouldn't give too much on some of the actual light readings. For example, I think the yellow/amber IGNITION light is supposed to come up when the actual ignition is on. So that's if you force it on with ON or if AUTO sets it to on. So above a certain torque value, it should go off when the switch is set to AUTO. The ignition system isn't supposed to run all the time, that's to reduce wear.

Hawk,Try pushing the GEN RESET button between the annunciators. In my Malibu, the GEN light is always green. I tried pushing the GEN RESET button once and the GEN light went out. About 10 minutes later, I lost all avionics power. I hit the reset button and got my power back. I have only loaded the Malibu once so I don't know if this will help you, but clearly the GEN RESET button has some function. Maybe it will restore your GEN light.Bill

I've tried your tip, Bill, but I can't get the green GEN light to come up. The reset just triggers the red LOW BUS VOLTAGE warning to come up and a click on GEN ON then brings the generator online. However, no green light after engine start.I think it was coded the wrong way, same for the ignition light which is always on. Same as on the YD switch, which should read OFF and AUTO, not ON and AUTO. Little things though, so I won't stop loving this bird. Will take her to Iceland later.

Well, trying the GEN RESET was worth a shot.As far as the mislabeled YD switch, maybe some texture artist among us could go in to the panel texture files, copy the "OFF" from the FD/AP switch and paste it to to the YD switch so it would say OFF instead of ON.

Maybe we'll set up a small bug list so that the Carenado folks can look into some stuff. Lots of small things, but worth mentioning.Anyone tried using the clock and its stopwatch so far? Those green and red buttons don't work, the rest does. I'm cheating with the nice engine trend monitor. When switching through the options (pretty detailed gauge), you get a clock showing the seconds. So if that NDB approach says 'time 1 minute' you aren't lost by design.A HU for the turbine fans. Bernt Stolle has released the FDE patch for the C208. It's on the Carenado site.

Thanks Life, I'll give that a shot. It appears to be the only thing not working.. And thats a good idea for the AP switch.. I hadn't noticed that.On a side note, I switched the fuel pressure sound to the Turbine Duke one. It has a build in click sound which is nice.
