March 29, 200422 yr I'm real sorry for the problems that some have been having. I've put a-lot of work into this one, and had hoped that it would be a big hit with everyone, not just a few. Maybe version 7 will be the lucky number? :)
March 31, 200422 yr Chris:I've installed it and I think it looks great. Keep up the good work. I think people will have to learn to accept that you can't get good scenery without a frame rate hit.--Tom________http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg------------SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS------------ Dell Pentium 4 at 3.2GHz with 800MHz FSB 1GB Dual Channel DDR SDRAM at 400MHz 128MB DDR ATI RADEON 9800 Pro 21 inch P1130 FD Trinitron CRT Monitor 120GB Ultra ATA/100 Hard Drive Sound Blaster Audigy 2 with DVD Audio WindowsXP Home Edition with Microsoft Plus! March 31, 200422 yr It looks fantastic on my machine, didn't notice any frame rate hit at all. Thankyou Chris, I think it's great.
April 2, 200422 yr well said indeed...and if "good" means "frame-hitting"i will just call those dozens of smooth ones on my drive"loverly":)ps.christhis ain't no jab at youpure semanticskeep doing your stuff, it's great:)
April 2, 200422 yr I know what semantics are, and I see no genuine reason that you should have wasted your time at my expense. These are the kind of comments that make it hard to spend so many hours trying to perfect freeware. Maybe I should charge for my next release. At least then I'll expect such criticisms. Why babble about my product not being good, and then tell me how great my stuff is in the same breath? This sounds rather bipolar to me. Which of these two ideas were you trying to convey? Were you attempting to say thank you?
April 2, 200422 yr my last post was a direct answer to the following statement from user tjrush (above, same thread, please confirm message nesting):"I think people will have to learn to accept that you can't get good scenery without a frame rate hit."the statement makes "good" sceneries but a subset of "frame-rate-hitting" sceneries. it is an opinion i cannot agree with.i consider your product to be "good" in the general sense conveyed by a standard dictionary definition, e.g. http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book...tionary&va=good. frame rates may or may not be relevant to this definition.i don't see why you would want to defend the statement of tjrush above. nobody can waste your time, unless you allow them to.have a great day! :)vilkps.my answer to your post does not mean i agree with your use of the word "babble" with reference to my writing... and i promise i will ask my shrink about the "bipolar". ;)
April 3, 200422 yr It is sometimes difficult to fully understand what idea a person wishes to express in their writing. The above explanation is very clear, thank you for taking the time to walk me through the vagaries of your post. By "babble", I meant that there seemed to be two conflicting, incoherent ideas. On the one hand, it looked like criticism, and on the other it appeared that you were complimenting my work. While my first impression was that you wished to express sarcasm, now I understand what you really meant. I apologize if I hurt your feelings, but your original post was misleading to me. ...bipolar means two different, or conflicting ideas. I think that there is a clinical psychiatric condition that is called Bipolar, but I wasn't suggesting anything concerning your psychological well being.Good day. :)
April 3, 200422 yr No psycho babble here-I'd like to thank you for the great upgrades! :-)They work great and look great on my setup-thanks for the hard work!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
April 3, 200422 yr Thanks GeofA. Thanks Vilk, and I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, I think I completely misread you. :)I hope you both really enjoy AEU6! :-beerchug
April 3, 200422 yr Great work ,the runaways are fantastic now. But i get a big glitch when airport appears in the screen .*:-* the framerates are ok after the load time. Its only when loads the airport textures. i
April 3, 200422 yr Thanks MorDrag, :)Yes, some people are experiencing stutters using AEU6. It appears that it is a result of the way I designed the textures. These textures were designed to increase frame-rate performance, as they show less detail from greater distances. The trade-off is that a-lot of information has to load all at once sometimes. Some system configurations seem to handle this trade-off better than others, regardless of the fact that it might be a more powerful system overall.Sorry for the inconvenience.
April 4, 200422 yr Ok, do you guys think that if the textures where shrunk in half to 512x512 and saved as DTX3 that it might make a difference in the stuttering without killing the good looks? Just looking for an educated opinion from another simmer, as I am working on the conversion as I type..Scott
