March 24, 200422 yr Chris,Great work--as ever. The smallish frame rate hit seems worthwhile when looking out the window at sharp, crisp, realistic runways and taxiways. The glass reflections in the terminal buildings was a pleasant surprise. Thanks much,Mike --Mike MacKuen
March 24, 200422 yr It's just a pity that the Avsim library is down since Monday...I really wanted to get this oneJohn (Once known as Macs)http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewer
March 25, 200422 yr
That's not the correct file!
[h5] The link takes you to version 4.0 (AEU For FS9). Version 6.0 is the newest one and can be found at http://www.flightsim.com in the file library. Look for 'aeu6.zip'. :) [/h5]
March 25, 200422 yr THis is a reply to Vilk in which I have the same issue. I even insstalled a complete default version of FS on my other drive to check and make sure it wasnt a computer or driver error. I really love the new asphalt and concrete textures but do get a glich when an airfield enters the picture. No major frame hit or noticable but turn from base to final isnt like how it use to be. Any thoughts from the author on which exact file(s) might cause this that i can keep as the previous version? You can see from my specs below that I run a high end system.
March 25, 200422 yr Try this Nathan,Install only the following files:runway_detail.bmprunway_detail02.bmprunway11.bmprunway12.bmprunway11_hw.bmprunway12_hw.bmptaxi_asphalt.bmptaxi_concrete.bmptaxiway_detail.bmptaxiway_marks.bmphalo.bmpThis will give you all of the airport surface (runways, etc...) enhancements, but the buildings will all be default. I haven't tested this, but I believe that this will eliminate the stuttering. :)
March 25, 200422 yr Beautiful stuff. Too much of a CPU hit for me. Reverted back to the last version, which still rocks. Eric AND
March 26, 200422 yr >downloaded Version 6.0 yesterday from the flightsim.no link.....< http://www.flightsim.no/file/New/17-Mar-2004.htm
March 26, 200422 yr Chris,Your textures have changed my outlook on the default airports. They are actually nice to look at now!!!Thank you so much for your hard work on AEU6, its got my vote for one of the best add-ons yet!!! http://www.forefrontgrp.com/jayssigsmall.jpg"There is an art . . . to flying. March 27, 200422 yr Any mirrors while the AV Sim libs are "down until further notice?">Chris is back once again! Great job!! We are forever in>your debt!!>>Look for aeu6.zip in the file library!!
March 27, 200422 yr I agree. Really great stuff! However, I suffered quite a hit especially at night where it is virtually unflyable and as luck would have it, I was struck with stupid and did not back up my files so, does anyone know where I can get the previous upgrade?Cheers!Richard Rice
March 27, 200422 yr Thanks for the comments guys! :) I'm real sorry for those who are having trouble with performance. :([h5]AEU 6 is available in several locations now.[/h5]Among them are: http://www.flightsim.comhttp://www.fsplanet.comThese are two places that I uploaded to, and several other flight sim related sites have take up the file as well. [h5]Good luck AVSIM! I hope things get better for you soon. I sounds like you've really got your hands full, and we all really appreciate the hard work. :-beerchug [/h5]
March 28, 200422 yr Many thanks for a huge improvement with runways, taxiways, etc, Chris. Only bug, like several others, is the stuttering that occurs when airports come into view. My system is pretty darned fast so I can't blame it on that. Anyway, I will eliminate a few textures and see which ones are the cause. Thanks again,
March 28, 200422 yr mhawki tried thatno honeythe only new texture i coud keep without a hitwas the yellow-and-black taxiway spinewhich is all yellow on my field anywayso i kept it just for the heck of it:)i ran out of steam tryingplease report if you have good resultsmuch appreciated...vilkps.maybe something in the display settings?
