My goodness... 200 nm...?!?

Featured Replies

This evening I did my first mission, a hamburger one, and I loved it. The distance was some 15 nm and all in all that was a perfect distance for such a mission. I was very surprised, if not flabbergasted, to see that all other missions were something like around 200 nm long...!!! Does MS really think that a new MS Flight user is going to fly 200 nm in a Stearman or Icon...?Now luckily they implemented the skip function (great idea, although I haven't used it yet), but what's the fun in skipping everything... I do enjoy the jobs, I like the idea a lot, but I want jobs that let me fly 15 to maximum 50 nm (which is long enough already on a slow plane). I refuse to fly 150 or 200 miles in any of the current planes so if want to do jobs I am almost forced to skip, while that's a real immersion breaker... I want shorter missions!I wonder why the made ALL those missions that long when they are aiming for new flyers, people who just want to get in a plane and fly around a little... 200 nm doesn't fit the strategy imho.

Some of the more "hard core" simmers will fly non-stop from New York to London and a 747. Some people like that. Me, I dont. Im glad MS gives people the option to FLY THE WAY THEY WANT.

Hm, well, but they don't give me the option to FLY THE WAY I WANT! I want missions that are 15 to 50 (or even 40 or 30) long (short)! :wink: I will stick to hamburger runs then, haha! ^_^

I agree with You, some missions are way to far, some go up to more than 400 nm.If at least we had the autopilot on the Maule, I wuold not mind.

The job board has long and short missions of various kinds. I prefer long ones myself, as you get a hefty no-skip bonus if you fly the whole way manually. For example, I just got 8000 XP for transporting a nurse and her patient about 100 miles.Sightseeing tours have a skip function without missing the no-skip bonus. Skip on the first two legs, then fly the leg home without skipping. The passenger will need to pee by that time, and you get a 1000 point bonus when you land and stop on the runway. Sure beats risking a crash in an outlanding.Hook

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

what missions? i'm level 9 or 10, and it appears i only have 4 or so missions left??? and i'm a bit confused as to why there's not dozens and dozens of missions...also bought the adventure pack....hmmm, are you talking about the job boards? or the straight up mission icon you can click from the initial map screen when you 1st get in the game?

I've flown my (i.e., A2A's) B-17G accross the pacific several times (here). That's a total of 45 hrs each way!Cheers,- jahman.
That's why there's a feature (also included in FSX) to skip to the fun parts.
Yes there is, but you will lose XP points doing that. (If you care about XP points)

Microsoft might consider competing with third part scenery and aircraft developers. That's just my thought, after all, its a very huge market. I haven't tried MF yet, but for those whom have tried, are there any such thing as SDK's?Troy

No, no SDK at the moment, but who knows later on?
