Cold and Dark at startup? How?

Featured Replies

I thought I made a previous post of this issue, but cannot find it now. If this duplicates things and it shows up later, my apologies. When my 737NGX is selected, the engines are always running. I am having trouble determining how to set up the PMDG 737NGX where when it is first selected, it will be in a cold and dark configuration without me doing anything else. A third party tutorial illustrates my problem. The third party tutorial states the following concering setup for a flight:"The <NGX CLDDRK should be highlighted after you pressed the LSK. Complete the process of loading this panel state by pressing the EXEC button on the CDU. The CDU will briefly display LOADING PANEL STATE....., and then the green initialization bar on top of the screen will reappear. Wait for the initialization process to complete before pressing any keys.At this point the CDU should display the top MENU page again......."Everything goes fine until the last statement. This is the point where I have my problem. "the top MENU page" does not display and the CDU goes blank, as I would think one would expect after enabling a cold and dark panel state. I would like to save this state, but that is impossible now that the CDU has gone blank and that option is no longer displayed. I have tried simply saving the flight in this configuration, but when the bird is selected, it again comes up and after a short pause, the engines are running again. Forgive my ignorance, but how does one setup and save a cold and dark configuration with this bird for when it is selected?Respectfully:RTH

1. Sign your real name to your posts please, it's a forum rule.2. You need to select NGX_CLDDRK as your STARTUP STATE in the FMC options. This is detailed in the Intro manual.

what the hell, John, how is AoA training even remotely relevant?RTH, after your MCDU goes off, press and hold the MENU key for a while, it will light up the PMDG functionality. You can save the state then (and set it for default)

Thanks so much Fabo:FINALLY someone addressed my question and gave me the simple answer.I am not paronoid over personal security or anything liike that and certainly will sign my full name, but am really confused by this highly mandated reaction. Note that I sign, "RTH" my initials. and my name, "rhodges" is included in the spot where it says who posted a thread. What confuses me about this is for example in this thread which I started, there is not a single signature of any kind except the one I made, much less a full name. this includes the reply by Tab under the title PMDG support who I assume is acting as a moderator. I found the same thing in many if not possibly all threads when I did my initial search. Is the full name signature removed somehow when a post or reply is made? Again, I certainly will comply and apologize if I did a no no!Again, thanks so much for the reply Fabo!Roger T. HodgesThis is ex

if you put your name in the signature block it wont be removed and you dont need to add it every time you post some thing. You will find that there are lots of posts that are not signed as per the rules these people seem to make their own rules up as they go along.

Peter, from what I have seen, generally this rule is enforced mostly in support threads, for the people asking questions. I guess it is a way to ensure that only proper customers get the benefit of support, which is a big part of costs of a respectable software company (which PMDG is).
