Hi, Ive been playing around with the zoom settings and for the longest time have always used the 1.00 zoom default settings. But reading topics about zoom settings I have noticed that many folks like to use the .75 settings for the most relastic value. My question is; is there a way to have .75 the default value for the cockpit in the panel config? I would like to have .75 as the default valut even when pressing the backspace key which would put it back to .75 instead of 1.00 if I happen to change the zoom settings.

The proper zoom value depends on your monitor's proportions. I am using a 1920 x 1080 screen and the best zoom to use is 0.75. For other widescreen monitors the best is 0.85.To make it the default in the 2D cockpit include this line in the Views section of the panel.cfg file:[VIEWS]VIEW_FORWARD_ZOOM=0.750To make it the default in the VC, set it to the desired zoom value and save a flight. Just to add to Tom's post, a default zoom for the VC "may" (not tested) be available according to the FSX SDK..Example via the SDK entered/added to the aircraft.cfg file.

I am not 100% sure, but as far as I remember, this works in fs9 but not in FSX. To do the same in FSX, I think you need to edit the camera definitions.

For FSX we can have unique camera definitions for any of the cameras except the default, main virtual cockpit camera. That camera is a global definition found in the Cameras.cfg file for each UserName.

Of course you can edit your Camera.cfg file as well (after making a backup). :)In my experience that line I posted is still needed in FSX to control the 2D panel behavior, but then the Camera definitions *also* need to be changed as well.BTW, for aircraft that use a non-zero VIEW_DIR value in the Views section of the panel.cfg file there is a bug in FSX that changes the VIEW_DIR value back to 0 in normal VC view when pressing Ctrl-Spacebar even after you have edited that Definition.To avoid this problem in 2D Cockpit View, use the 8 key on the Numpad (with NumLock on) to reset the view instead.In the VC view, it appears there may be no easy fix. A workaround is to create and use your own VC Camera Definition in your plane's aircraft.cfg file. This will revert to the correct view angle when you press Ctrl-Spacebar.Finally, FSX requires different zoom values vs FS2004, to get the same view out the windows. It is about 0.75 that of the correct zoom value in FS9. This is also true for widescreen monitors - for my 1920 x 1080 screen, a zoom of 0.75 is best in FS9. Thanks guys, I have a non wide screen 24in monitor with a resoluation of 1400 X 1050. I have tried .75 and seems good to me.
