The realistic sun effects - nice!

I just completed a mission using the RV. It' s the mission where you take a photographer on a "long" flight to various points of interested. I won't bore you with the details but I had a BLAST flying it.OK, to the point of this post. At one point in this flight (I'm not going to call them missions <grin>), I found myself flying between several cliff peaks. Suddenly, I noticed that the RV's dash seemed to be very bright, then dim, then bright... sort of a bright "flickering" effect. I thought my graphics card was acting up. But then I realized what was happening... the light from the sun (that was behind me and below the clifts) was appearing and disappearing as I flew past gaps in the cliffs... allowing the sunlight to appear on my dash as it did!I was very impressed. Enough to share the experience here.

I discovered this during the beta testing . . . it was definitely one of my first "WOWS!".I was flying in FSX a couple of hours ago, and even though I had a good flight experience, what I immediately missed the most was Flight's superior light and shadows. (And when I'm using Flight, I really miss FSX's ATC and the AI traffic.)

Yes, I noticed the same effect for the first time in the Kayak rescue mission. It's not nice... it's AWESOME!!!

Yup. At first you think its a bug, or that your strobes are acting up.Then........ the realization and the big grin.

I just finished this very mission, didn't skip to any points in the mission it is around a 500nm round trip, a great mission to see the Island's that i throughly enjoyed.5 Star mission that everyone should take seriously and complete the entire thing some of the views were spectacular.

I agree. I was very impressed with the over quality of this flight, and other missions (oops... flights <grin>). I liked the part where we stopped for breakfast... I'm very glad the passenger "reminded me to, gas up" before continuing the flight! LOL!As a matter of fact, I was on a "job" flight yesterday, and did not take on enough fuel. That passenger got a little annoyed at me (you could hear it in his voice) and told me to land for more fuel. It was night time and I had to land on a small dirt runway in the dark... I didn't like that too much though. I don't think I would have tried that in "real" life. It might be nice if there was a way to "call ahead" and have someone on the ground turn on a light or two! <smile>

Um, how did you get fuel at such a strip? Hanger/Fuel maybe?

Don't ask me, I didn't create the program. I landed, taxied, stopped, and pushed "F"!Try it for yourself. Load the Maule, go to the map, click the AP at the bottom of the base Island, click Job, and pick the "monkey" flight (259 nm I think). Make sure you load 40% fuel. I did this because the passenger told me I was too heavy to be able to take off.

That's my major gripe. The silly mechanics and non-pilot pax should keep their yams shut... :LMAO:You really do need to be "slightly overweight" in order to complete many of the cargo missions. That's going to require a lot more runway for takeoff, and some very careful piloting...

I noticed the same thing. The shorter jobs have heavier cargo/pax and the longer ones have lighter loads. Still you may need to be a bit overweight on takeoff. Good thing is that that fuel will burn off quickly bring you withing your max gross soon enough not to be a problem. Now, LANDING overwieght? That's a real problem! As for the pax chatter, I like it. Reminds me that I have someone sitting next to me that may not be used to or even enjoy the sensation of flight too much. Gotta keep it smooth for paying riders.WildBill
