March 6, 201214 yr What type of device are you using to control MS Flight? Are you new and using the keyboard only, using a console controller, basic joystick (that's me), and if you have the more advanced hardware Siatek and others, or yokes and foot pedals does Flight work with the advanced items such as foot pedals from manufacturers and if so how realistic is it.I am really, really enjoying MS Flight and looking forward to Alaska and the future.I have the low end joystick and can't steer the planes making me crash sometimes on landings or takeoffs, mostly landing going off the runway : )I might have to upgrade to at least a joystick with Twist is what I was told for Alaska and hopefully helicopters! Thanks! March 6, 201214 yr I would highly recommend if you think you will spend some time with Flight, to go ahead and at least maybe a medium range joystick/throttle setup. As you said, ideally one with a twist for rudder if you don't want to invest in rudder pedals right out the chute.I myself have been doing flight sims for quite a number of years, and my flight setup consists of TM Cougar stick and throttle, the stick has been modded with a very nice gimbal setup, and hall sensors in both - along with TM Elite Rudder Pedals also modded with hall sensors. I have been flying this setup for a number of years as well. But this would certainly not be considered an entry level type of setup either.I know a lot of folks like both the Saitek and CH Products offerings, shop around and see what fits in your budget but come back and ask opinions once you zone in on what you think you would like... March 6, 201214 yr Author Any idea why I can't control tail dragger ground steering the Boeing Stearman with my Logitech Attack 3 joystick which works fine in FSX. If I can't get it to work will the Logitech Extreme™ 3D Pro be enough for most aircraft in MS Flight general aviation, helicopters, and jets? What does the twist help with in helicopters as I fly them in other sims also? http://www.logitech.com/en-us/gaming/joysticks/devices/291By the way Flight seems to be bringing new members like me to these forums even if we have been flying in other sims or are brand new : )When you post can you please leave links to your hardware add ons so we can all check them out! For those of us looking to possibly upgrade. Thanks! "Coffee, if your not shaking, you need another cup" Flight Sim Break Discord Channel: https://discord.com/invite/fCV62Ka2QZ
March 6, 201214 yr Well, the only things that work in Flight is the basic Saitek/CH/"insert name" stuff. Yoke, rudder pedals, and throttle quadrant(s) that is recognized by the OS. None of the Radio or Switch panels will work so don't spend any money on it. As soon as MS releases some API's for Flight I assume the 3rd part developers will spring to life.
March 6, 201214 yr There's no problem getting the goflight switch panels interacting with the sim as it's easy to output the switch movements as keystrokes. The problem present is the lack of key commands in flight for most cockpit switches. It should be easy for ms to add this - i hope they do.
