So MS has been working for 2 years on just an island and a few planes, right?

I am surprised by the choice of alaska but not by the announcement of a large area. The complaints from some in the Fsx community were completely predictable, and it's not surprising that MS has a ready answer for much of it. I also think this is a shot across the bow of the third party producers who were not interested in microsofts terms.Essentially I see it as a warning that MS is prepared and capable of going it alone.
You honestly feel the absence of quality vendors and freeware will not affect the growth of Flight? The ultimate quality? Every FS version was greatly enhanced by dedicated developers (freeware/payware) who created add-ons that MS never dreamed of and more importantly would not have attempted. The pipeline is now throttled through DLC and I can't see any reason Flight with evolve at a pace that will preclude boredom. Flight could easily replicate the years of stagnant growth 'pioneered' by X-Plane because of the lack of third party planes, scenery and utilities.Bob.. :)

Flight could easily replicate the years of stagnant growth 'pioneered' by X-Plane because of the lack of third party planes, scenery and utilities.Absolutely !!it will be funny to see now a reversing trend ! surely with flight locked as is now - third parties will come out with some above average goodies in xplane 10 to impress !!the fight is On ladies and gents !!

I definitely expected add-ons to come fast and furiously (similar to RailWorks Train Simulator's business model), but I most certainly didn't expect anything the size of Alaska (at least not as a single add-on pack). Definitely looking forward to see what else the future holds for Flight. :)-George

Happy Flying!

What I want, and what's logical are not necessarily the same thing. :-)

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.
