March 6, 201214 yr Is there any software that gives us a better feeling of speed when hugging terrain.Zooming all the way out helps but planes still feel too darn slow at very low altitude. March 6, 201214 yr High autogen settings, good textures, camera zoom, and WideViewAspect=True are the only ways to get a feeling of peripheral vision.Open your fsx.cfg and find the entry "WideViewAspect=". Change "False" to "True". Of course you should only do this if you're using a widescreen monitor. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

March 6, 201214 yr WideViewAspect helps. The feeling of speed also gets better on a bigger monitor. I use a 40" LCD TV. The sense of speed is actally quite realistic. In real life you tend to get increasing tunnel vision as speed increases and you need to focus further away. Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

Thing is I rarely feel the urge to tote my 40lb PC and tons of peripherals down stairs to the living room... ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 7, 201214 yr How do you know what the look of speed should be? what airplanes have you flown in?
March 7, 201214 yr Commercial Member What size is your detail.bmp? This file is tiled all over the ground textures.FSX comes with a 256x256 texture but you can download up to 1024x1024 in the AVSIM library. Using the higher detailed texture makes the ground look more detailed and thus helps improve the illusion of speed. www.antsairplanes.com
March 7, 201214 yr How do you like you LCD??I don't wanna lose any quality or DPI with FSX by stretching it that big.I have it side by side with a Dell Ultrasharp 30" which has a lot higher resolution. I prefer the 40" for FSX. I just find bigger more immersive, although the overall image quality is lower. Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
March 7, 201214 yr Author How do you know what the look of speed should be? what airplanes have you flown in?I was a 1A7X1 in the Air Force for six years. Also got the opportunity to take a ride in an F16F and he did some nice low terrain passes.Either way that's beside the point!
