Cockpit noise, wind?

Featured Replies

The real world 737 cockpit wind noise is very loud compared to other airliners. The only louder cockpit I've been in was the 727 and that was mainly because it flies faster. When I was an engineer we were flying at mach .89 one night and I couldn't hear anytiing the Captain or FO was saying it was so loud. Of course we have almost 200 737s now and from one plane to the next the wind noise can be quite different but I would classify them all as loud. Listening to the sound in a video will not give you a realistic idea of how loud it is compared to other noises. Realities asside I too have trouble hearing the ATIS from Active Sky when flying NGX and the J41. The FMC soud options do help but they also change other cockpit sounds I would stil prefer to hear at normal volume.

Yes, the default cabin sound (aircon?) is too loud compared to

I see someone commented on this in 2004 http://forum.avsim.n...-cockpit-noise/.

I'm going to study the suggestions made here.

I think that has to do more with the camera they use or something. Have a look at this video at 5:15 when the apu bleed and packs are turned on:

Thanks for that.

My cockpit noise is louder than that. You can clearly hear other cockpit talk and commands that is not the case in my default settings.

I do not want to turn anything off so I am going to investigate reducing the sound of aircon or whatever it is by 50% to 25%.
