CPFlight gear (MCP, EFIS, radios)

Featured Replies

Anybody got these. Seem to be extremely high quality, if a little pricey. They have a full line of 737-like radios and such.mcp737el5_thumb.jpgCPFlightGoFlight has indicated that they will NOT be releasing drivers for the NGX. I am looking for alternatives.* Orest

I just ordered the EL series FMC and twin EFIS's. My friend has bought them and I was tossing up whether to spend the extra 500 euro's for the PRO, but decided on the EL, as well. He's building a full 737-800 cockpit, like myself, so you don't just put anything in that.I earlier on bought the GoFlight stuff, but it's chalk and cheese. GoFlight, good to get you started, but too many problems, including their size (they are not to scale). The CPFlight gear has a great reputation in the simming industry as well and their after sales seems good too.Frank Cooper

I am interested in moving away from some of my GF hardware, are the CPFlight gear products usb or is there an interface card that would need to be purchased? ThanksKevin

The current release CPFlight MCP (EL & Pro) itself connects by USB, the older MCP units used com ports. From my reading of the DOCs, the MCP forms the "gateway". The driver you install communicates with it. The other pieces (EFIS, radios, etc.) connect to the MCP.Unlike the GF stuff, there is no enclosure, it is meant to be installed in a panel. That said, they do sell an aluminum frame that can take the unit and an EFIS, holding it at a convenient angle, which you can then screw to a flat surface. This achieves much the same orientation as the GF MCP PRO, with its side supports bolted on.There are some pretty good PDF docs available to download here ...http://www.cpflight.com/sito/downloads/downloads.asp* Orest

The CP Flight hardware is very good quality equipment. I highly recommend the Pro line. The Pro line is USB, not sure about he other MCPs. Beware if you buy second hand as the older MCPs have a serial connection and are not 100% scale. You need to buy the MCP first as it is is that which has the USB connection on it. The rest of the gear (EFIS, radios etc) is daisy chained via a 5-pin connector (iirc) leads.Paolo is writing the driver for the CP Flight hardware, now that the SDK is out. He should have it completed in a few weeks.EDIT> hehe, Orest beat me to it.Check out Fly Engravity for panels etc:http://www.flyengravity.com/They sell the CP Flight gear and they have a good reputation in the Simming world. Never bought directly for CP Flight, so I can't comment on them.

I don't mind spending the extra dollars for a good product, and this certainly looks gorgeous, my concern is that it is in an international location (from me), and I have really not heard anything of the company previously. After sales support, in particular continued driver support, is key once you drop that kind of coin.I guess it is always a bit of gamble, but I wanted to feel it out here, I figure there are other folks here as deeply interested in this level of simulation.* OrestThanks for the fly engravity link!* Orest

I was going to buy them from the engravity site, but there were no clear links, so I went over to CPFlight itself. Must say, the service from Claudio was spot on.He's a good guy to deal with, Orest.Frank Cooper

Good to hear, thanks Frank. I think I see an MCP EL + EFIS in my future. Will wait for their drivers to be released, and a CONFIRMation that all works perfectly.Perhaps you or Ed can post here.* Orest

Hi guys,I will also be getting an Overhead panel from FlyEngravity. Just purchased the MCP EL + EFIS (waiting for it to arrive). Does anyone know if a hardware OH would work with the NGX? I'm trying to build my pit around the NGX after looking at the other software available (Prosim737 and PM) and would love to use the NGX. I'm just worried about compatibility between the hardware and NGX. If someone has any experience please let me know. Thanks
