March 13, 201214 yr Commercial Member Bob, I can't stop laughing :( but I feel the same way. I have been flying NGX for a long time and know the flows but now with this FO I am just screwed. I am on the same page with you. Little tutorial would be handy, at list it will put us on the right track.Thanks.Ed, Damien is writing a special tutorial to help the new people and it'll be out when I release Hot Fix 1, probably later this week.Cheers, B. March 13, 201214 yr Ed, Damien is writing a special tutorial to help the new people and it'll be out when I release Hot Fix 1, probably later this week.Cheers,That is excellent news and I can't wait to start using this program properly instead of just taking a stab at it and floundering around, which no amount of manual reading, on its own, has prevented.Certainly not in my case. Thanks Bryan and Damien.John
March 13, 201214 yr Hi John,Have a look at this thread http://forum.avsim.net/topic/364763-ngx-fs2crew-flow/. Julios has written a crew flow with timings to help people out. It is really well written and easy to understand. It will help you out, once you have completed a few flights will easier and become second nature.Don't give up on FS2Crew as it is an amazing addon and once you are up and running you will never want to fly without it.
March 18, 201214 yr As a first time user of the program I was a bit baffled as well on what exactly I was supposed to be doing. I read the manual twice but that didnt really help me. Sure I looked at the flows and knew what I had to do I just wasnt quite sure how to interact with the software. Once I figured out the Primary and secondary button usage and when to use them its a cake walk. To be honest having flown by myself for so long its kind of odd to have someone work the gear and the flaps...LOL
March 18, 201214 yr Commercial Member Once I figured out the Primary and secondary button usage and when to use them its a cake walk.Bingo! The Button Control version is easy as pie... the path is laid out right in front of you and you just have to follow the path.Cheers, B. March 26, 201214 yr Boy, I'm glad I found this thread, and my hat goes off to John and Bob and other who despite having fine minds were prepared to admit they were baffled. Like all of us, I suspect, I have tremendous goodwill towards Bryan and both respect and admire everything he does, gift-wrapped in integrity. As a 69-year old (going on 19) I have an honours degree and post-graduate quals. in marketing, and even flew for 26 years after training with the RAF at Uni. And no dementia yet - but I am working on it. But I too am totally out of touch with FS2Crew after I abandoned the PMDG B747/FS2Crew combo several years back for various reasons. But I am very interested indeed in the NGX and this ver of FS2Crew for reasons I am sure we all share. The problem has been succinctly stated by John and Bob. Taken together this is complex stuff by anybody's measure. A guide is needed both for newbies and as a refresher for the old hands. They need to see where the bits of Leggo fit. If you are not the developer, co-developer or a beta-tester but someone involved in many other facets of this rich tapestry we call life you come at this like a babe. Here's the problem as the marketing gurus might put it: FS2Crew has an "engineering orienatation". Whereas what is should have is a "customer" orientation. Yes, this is an over-simplification, and I'm sorry if any hackles go up but allow me to present a little proof.1. We all see the frustration in the posts from people gagging for an Idiots Guide (aka a tutorial). Of which I am one. 2. We're told there is one! But you can't have it because it is "engineered" to come out with SP1 and it's not ready yet because the engineers are still working on it.Solution? Give the customers the d**n tute now! Pretty please?Warmest regards to all as ever,Gareth Gareth Wilkinson LEAL Costa Blanca, SPAIN
March 26, 201214 yr Commercial Member Hi Gareth,SP1 will probably be coming along this week along with advanced tutorials. Here's some videos that show the button version in action:http://www.youtube.com/user/tastyryanHere's a very simple and crude tutorial just to get your running.1. Assign the Main and Secondary buttons as described in the manual.2. Load the NGX (use the state where it loads with the engines running.3. Program the FMC and set the TO Flaps.4. Using the Arrow icon on the FS2Crew Main Panel, skip to the mode that says "Takeoff".5. Line up on the runway.6. Press the Main Button.7. Then it's just a matter of pressing the Main Button when you see fit... Basically you're just following a linear line and advancing through that linear line by pressing the Main Button at each step. And since 'what comes next' is displayed in the Main Panel, it's pretty hard to mess up.Trust me, it's easy once you get your head around it.Appreciating that all you're doing is following a linear line is key.Cheers, B. March 26, 201214 yr Bryan, you are a gentleman. This morning I've been getting along fine after switching to Button Mode for the moment with a loaded flight-plan, from cold & dark. So it's all coming back to me now. No problems other than a minor push-back issue that I posted about a few minutes ago, under a 'Pushback' topic I think. Anyway, thanks for the Quick Start tips even though I didn't need them in the end. I found I didn't need to worry about the 2D panel start-up either. Muchos gracias mi amigo,Gareth Gareth Wilkinson LEAL Costa Blanca, SPAIN
