Program Pin Error / Pro ATC/X
Been wrestling with this Pin Error problem. Here's where I am at in case it helps ... I have latest NGX fully updated, latest AIRAC cycle 1608, and latest PATC. All as it should be. I get the Pin Error in the approach in this case from NZAA to NZWN when I go to select Arrival Rwy and Star. The NGX is flying a PATC generated FPL. I am forced to manually configure my ILS runway of choice and continue sans ATC. I then decided to cut PATC out of the mix and entered my route manually into the the FMC. Similar but using mainly different waypoints. In this case it all goes normally and a good time was had by all. I am left wondering what is it with PATC? It received the same AIRAC update at the same time as PMDG via the Navigraph Data Mngr. I feel I have narrowed the problem at least in my case. I certainly want to go on using PATC, so I'll carry on fiddling and report in the case of any breakthroughs :0) Gareth Wilkinson LEAL

Orbx KPSP in P3D V3?
I noticed that this thread started 17 November 2015 and still no KPSP installer. While applauding ORBX's stellar performance with the v3 installers it strikes me as odd that one of the jewel APTS in the FTX crown remains an orphan. Ah well, patience, like hope, springs eternal in the human breast. No pun intended. Gareth

New community user mods almost ready for show time - hold on to your socks.
Thanks for your reply. CDU unit? I was simply going by the Carenado Proline 21 User manual that came with the CJ2. Personally I've always used the term 'FMC' as well. After a couple of hours using the CJ2/GTN I think i've managed to answer my own questions. I think I confused the logic by switching too quickly between ILS VLOC approach to GPS using the CDI button and disengaging NAV at various times, purely to try and understand the modes better. As you do. I found the Garmin user guide useful in a basic sort of a way but managed to dig out a couple of excellent videos that weren't around when I purchased the 750 early on. So no worries, case closed. I like the CJ2 a lot and would recommend it. Regards

Hi and thanks Ray. Yes I spotted that the radios work in sync! Am I right about the CDU being disabled due to the GTN? Just so I know my installation is normal. On my first attempt at flying a route (Palm Springs to Sedona) I found tracking the GTN flightplan and Direct-To were a bit unpredictable but that may well have been me. I'll try again shortly. I'm aware there have been some issues with NAV selection but not sure if these had been sorted. Can you tell me the recommended way to use GTN navigation features with the modded CJ2 as it stands? Or maybe there's a tutorial you could point me to. Cheers Gareth

Update seemingly went without a hitch. Very impressed with this so far, much credit to all concerned. I see that there are no live click-spots on my CDU. I suspect this is due to flight planning, comms etc being now handled by the Garmin GTN, with the corresponding Proline functions disabled? The CDU continues to receive/display engine data, and is locked to that screen. Regards

Your constructive inputs are much appreciated. I'll let you know when I've fixed it ;-) Thanks, Gareth Kicking carenavigraph.dll into touch fixed it. Now for the GTN and the modding ...

New community user mods almost ready for show time - hold on to your socks.
Hi guys, Just installed the CJ2 and took a trial flight out of FTX Palm Springs. First thing that struck me was the fps at around 8 frames in the VC! Rebooted and tried again. Same. Loaded the NGX and it was up in the usual 40+ fps. Can't be right? Any thoughts gentlemen? Best Gareth Medium strength PC: Intel i2700k at 4.5 GHz; Asus P868; 8GB RAM, GTX 780 OC, all SSD.

Excellent, thanks Jim. Appreciate the recommendation too. I have the GTN P3D version so I'm inclined to run with the CJ2 despite being a Carenado offering. These mods might make all the difference. Best regards, Gareth

Looking for a corporate jet for P3D v3.2 and hit upon this intriguing thread. I gather if I we order from Carenado today we get a 1.1 version with a number of improvements. But I'm not clear about how to install my GTN 750, or where to obtain/install the great Squad mods - or where they fit in now? Can someone kindly point me in the right direction to get the info I need? With thanks in advance .... Gareth LEAL

Using FS2Crew Reboot with PRo-ATC /X. Anyone?
Thanks, and my apologies Jarkko, this thread slipped off my radar. Really appreciate the trouble you went to in your reply. I honestly believe this topic merits more discussion. Hopefully others will experiment with this great combo and be willing to share their experiences. After a fltsim spring-clean and rebuild I'm about to do just that. Cheers Bryan, you marvel

Prepar3D 3.1.2.15831 released
+ 1 Hi David, your signature bug is annoyingly mesmerising (but good fun!) But it just dawned on me that it is describing the symbol for Infinity. How apposite given its relentless searching, and ours, for flightsim nirvana. We so often arrive back where we started, always looking for something more ... Prepar3D 3.1.2.15831 released
I installed the 3.1 Client only and like what I see. Water improved for sure. On reading this helpful thread will no doubt do the same with Content. Thanks. So far only one things appears broken: Flight1 GTN 750. Anyone else got this problem? Cheers, Gareth

Using FS2Crew Reboot with PRo-ATC /X. Anyone?
How I didn't discover PRO-ATC before now I'll never know. But for me it's 'thanks for the memories' and goodnight RC4 and PFE. I'm sure some of you NGX flyers will be running NGX Reboot and PRO-ATC together? If so I'd be very pleased to know how you have set up PRO-ATC to work alongside Reboot successfully. I realise it's about leaving the right boxes checked in order to let the PRO-ATC F.O. work the comms, while you fly the plane in conjunctiuon with FS2Crew. I am about to experiment with the PRO-ATC settings but if anyone would care to share thier experience I'd be very interested in your recommendations. Many thanks, Gareth

Starting REBOOT at Ready to Taxi stage?
The title says it all really. Is it possible to skip the setup stage and start the flight at the 'Ready To Taxi stage', i.e. using the PMDG Default panel state with engines running? If so, could someome kindly let me know, or point me to the procedure involved? Many thanks Gareth

737 NGX Panel problems in P3Dv3
Hi Paul, My understanding is that Simconnect is a programing tool relevant to Microsoft ESP, the flight simulation training software at the heart of FSX and probably moreso P3d. But I don't know if it used in other Gaming Platforms. I would doubt it somehow. Good question re. the order of things. On reflection I probably ran the Simconnect installs last. The reason I say that is I recall I was anticipating an Activation screen and when it didn't happen on the second install I remebered the PMDG dialogue that said 'in that case' install Simconnect, as per their instructions. Hope that helps, but I can't believe doing it before or after the NGX install would make any difference to the end result. As always, I'm prepared to be corrected on that. Best Gareth

737 NGX Panel problems in P3Dv3
You appeared to haver done all the right things Paul. In my case I re-formatted my dedicated P3d SSD (v2.4) and started from scratch. v3 installed successfully and I soon turned to the NGX, delighted to find they had an installer ready within hours almost. But I could see no sign of the NGX as having installed in the Sim. Then came a failed install of Simconnect using the PMDG suggestions. I saw then there were conflicts (the install even reporting an older version that required uninstalling). So at this point I uninstalled the NGX, surgically removed all Simconnects (at least 2) from my system, reran the PMDG Simconnect routine, and NGX installed and ran fine. Btw I don't use FSX or the Steam version. To me the steam went out of FSX when I saw where P3d was going. I hope you get up and running soon. Gareth

737 NGX Panel problems in P3Dv3
I had these same issues but found I was able to deal with them OK. I deleted all simconnect entries/installations from my system and reinstalled Simconnect using the PMDG guidelines refrred to above, which then proceeded smoothly. After that things worked well. Hats-off to Robert and the team at PMDG for their anticipation and prompt response to our need for peace and continuity in our (simming) lives. I checked the PMDG error log and found the dual SMOKESCREEN entries issue which I dealt with simply by //-ing out one of the entries out. It hasn't returned, so far. At one point P3d would show a crash notification AFTER exiting the sim i.e. even though it had just appeared to shut down cleanly. But that disappeared too. I am finding v3 a stunning step foward and am discovering new things all the time. Having such easy control over lighting and colour is a great asset for example. I believe brilliant work has been done on this sim in important areas. The only thing that's bugging me, as I was trying to say in a thread that got closed straight afterwards, yesterday, is that as a commuinity we once again find ourselves looking for pinholes of light in a dark cave, wreslting with new installation and compatibility concerns. In this regard I found Ed's contribution very usefull indeed. It showed we need a clear layman's guide - for Academic users if you will - setting out LM's compatibility requirements and SDK issues. With some of the fine minds and generous spirits inhabiting these forums such a guide would be possible I feel. Otherwise we learn by trial and error and by osmosis neither of which are ideal as the past has proven. Is 'shambolic' the right word? A case in point: yes I got the NGX running beautifully using the new PMGD installer. But it IS now inside the core folders under Simobjects. But should it actually be there? Personally I don't care but I am very keen to play this straight down the middle as I can easily see the wisdom and brilliant thinking on LM's part to leave their core install pristine, ready to revieve updates, fixes etc. To say nothing of the huge benefits to us in the future with regard to scenery and add-ons, etc. But there's the thing. We the unintiated would love to know please, if for example I can start using external SSDs on my system for planes and scenery etc., so that don't actually need to go ahead and order the 256Gb SSD for P3D v3 as I was about to do yesterdsay. No offense intended in coninuing to express my personal thoughts in a different thread. I am right behind Avsim Admin's stance on all of this. Regards, Gareth

Prepar3D v3.x Compatibility
Ed's comments highlight a glaring need within a community such us ours for somebody qualified and of a generous disposition to spell out the implications of profound and forward-looking changes to our sim. We want to be able to plan and manage our limited drive-space resources and our library of add-ons - in which many have made a sizeable investment. Clearly it falls to the developers to design the needed installers that respect the SDK, but I'm talking a layman's guide in non-technical language and non-patronising style that fosters the understanding and cameraderie that should underpin a forum; a bunch of serious hobbyists. ORBX high-quality support PDF's are a good example and of high quality. Such a guide would be invaluable to we non-developers ill-equipped to interpret the technical complexity of the SDK in practical terms. It would answer questions such as: Can I put my ORBX scenery on a spare, smaller SSD, and if so how? Or do I need to go out and buy a larger one? What must i simply NOT do to stay out of trouble with v3? Yes we trust and developers and wait for their installers. But will they tell us what's actually possible and perfectly workable if we wanted to DIY safely? Do we have some leaders here (with some free to give) that can make this sort of thing happen?

PMDG 737 NGX Causing CTD
Michael, Did you note the Blue Screen MS error code in your case? I have had a couple lately with error code 00000124 which is apparently hardware related. Often to do with overheating. There's lots of helpul discussion if you Google on that code. I followed most of it, stripped my machine, cleaned it, reseated all cards and RAM, checked all the fans, updated drivers etc. but too soon to say if this was enough. I didn't reseat the CPU but would do that finally. Even though currently all 4 cores are running comfortably under the high 70's with high loads. Here in Spain the temps have been well into the mid-high 30's C July/Aug so that adds a cooling burden for the PC of course. Good luck with it. Regards Gareth
