Lots of people here and on ADX are saying all sorts of stuff. Talk is cheap and no one actually knows anything. And there's a particular beta tester here who reminds us that they're under NDAs but seems to keep fueling speculation (perhaps no fault of his/her own) which leads to speculation piled on top of speculation.

Given LM's secrecy on development, no one will really know anything until they announce or release something. Last I checked, that hasn't happened yet so everything we hear--even from beta testers--is hot air or, er, type.

But everyone is listening......

Flightsim community is turning into a tabloid. Breaking news! P3D v6 with full SLI support, x64, perfect memory management, zero crashes and 144fps @ 4k coming soon!

So what? Have fun listening to nonsense. As David implies, if folks want to read into the tabloid journalism and editorials that many of these AVSIM threads turn into, it's merely entertainment. But far be it from me to suggest what people do in their spare time...

Oh my God, really?  When?  I gotta know so I can delete all of my flight simulators to make way for THE BIG ONE!  Yeaaaaaaah!

You mean nonsense like this ? I appreciate that flight simulation turns out of the backside of the moon into the light.

If you call this and the rumours about expected releases of flightsim software nonsense then this is your way of thinking.

I enjoy the new hype about our hobby..

The only thing known that is FACTUAL is the V3 is coming out soon. Anything else is a rumour with zero grounds. Period. End of story. No if ands or buts.

As do I. However, you conflate "hype about our hobby" with speculation.

I would consider "hype" to be development previews, such as those routinely published by developers themselves. Aerosoft, PMDG, ORBX, FlightBeam, etc. themselves push a lot of news about their projects directly to the community, leaving us little to speculate about. Some of it is indeed hype, to be sure, but it nonetheless creates a pretty clear picture of what to expect. That sort of news is exciting and I'd be lying if I said I don't check primary sources often for news and updates.

The difference here is big: the developer of the actual sim platform itself, for better or for worse, is notoriously quiet about news, updates, and what to expect in future dot releases, hotfixes, or new versions. That creates the requisite vacuum for the rumor mill to start operating and spreading misinformation from both know-nothings and folks possibly with an axe to grind (those who don't like the idea of paying for new versions, simmers that use another platform, etc.). This type of information clogs the sim-sphere and weighs it down with worthless information and misdirection that only adds to further misinformation and confusion. If you enjoy reading this sort of thing, by all means, have at it. But do not strawman me into someone that would prefer no news or developments regarding this hobby as that's patently false and intellectually dishonest.
