Hawseyair sessions

Featured Replies

Hi everybody, Well, I was hosting publicly a few days ago and on 2 occasions other simmers crashed into me, ruinning my cargo flights. They were just new simmers goofing around. Well, I have no problem with that and am glad to see the new interest in simming. So, I thought, how do I work around this? I am a newly licensed real world private pilot who has been flying sims for years. I like to fly commercial type GA jobs on the sim. So I'd like to host sessions for like minded simmers, old and new, who wanna do it up as realistic as possible. Therefore, when I'm on I'm going to host "friends only". Here's how I wanna do it: 1. If you want to fly in these sessions for realistic flying you should reply to this topic on this forum with your Gamertag 2. I will add you as a friend the next time I am on so that you can join my sessions 3. We will all communicate as VFR (Visual Flight Rules) pilots as follows (Had to modify a little for the sim): a. Report on approach eg: "Hawseyair (gamertag) on final approach for Kona Internationl (airport)" b. Report entering runway for take off eg: "Hawseyair (gamertag) taking off Hilo (airport)" c. Report after landing when off of runway eg: "Hawseyair (gamertag) clear of runway Bradshaw (airport)" This will ensure that we give each other the courtesy of communicating when the runways are clear for use and prevent any collisions after a long cargo flight etc. 4. We will not loiter on the runways, run up can be done before entering the runway and announcing take off.....Don't spawn on the runways 5. Only send me your gamertag if/when you have voice, texting is no go for these sessions I think this will provide a fun commercial General Aviation atmosphere where us older guys feel at home and the SERIOUS new guys can learn. By the way talking and laughter are welcome. Let's have fun! But if it is a high traffic day on the session, pause frequently to ensure pilots can adequately report operations as stated above. I hope that these sessions will in time become full of serious simmers and very fun yet proffessional and educational. But please if you are just wanting to mess around in the air and not respect others, then don't reply. I'll boot for discourteous actions. Hawseyair

DAD tune your radio to any frequency lets say 119.7 and press CTRL+TAB to talk and you will only transmit in that frequency .I have a button on my SAITEK yoke programed for CTRL+TAB makes alot easy.

HOLGUINERITO, I like your idea about the unicom thing. However, like LH4371 just showed us, not everyone knows how that works yet. So to be fair, we will be on regular voice, at least until we have at least the max 16 players and we can instruct everyone how to do that. Hawseyair

Hawseyair Yeah that sounds like a better plan not everyone knows about that feature yet .

Well, an early turn out so far. That's a good sign. So, I'm planning the first session tomorrow morning at 10:00 am Ohio time. That's 15z. I will add you guys, and anyone who posts by then, as friends prior to the session. Should be a good time. I'm thinking dawn with fair weather to start our first session. Kinda a meet and greet. After that, we'll work with some different stuff, take suggestions, etc. Hawseyairrtodepart, I assume you're in?Also, guys I only have the main Hawaiian Island so far. I do have the Maule though. Of course, work where you want, but I'll be running there. Kinda holding out for Alaska! Hawseyair

sure count me in .

What an excellent idea - I'm still new to radio operations, but can fly my planes safely, and promise not to crash into anyone :) I still have my MS given gamer tag, but am kinda getting used to it now... UnivalveOsprey1 Thanks for the opportunity to join!

I will be glad to join, FA1RE, living in Europe, beeing free approx at 18Z during work days. It might interesting to set standards (for communication and basic behavior) and let more people to create sessions based on the same standards?EDIT: When I say 18Z, I mean zero meridian time, hope that is correct.

Hawaii!

This is an excellent initiative! Not sure when I'll be able to make it, but my gamertag is Matzor. Can you just find and jump straight into a Live session once you're a "friend", or do you have to be invited by the owner?

When a session is set to private the host must invite you over. Hawseyair, this sounds interesting. I'm a new guy at flying but I will fly in a realistic manner and use appropriate language on the mic.Gamertag: StarZtorm
