March 15, 201214 yr I have been using Flight in a completely unexpected way. While flying around in the Stearman I will pass over some landmark, like a waterfall, and decide I need a closer look.So the next step is to find a suitable landing spot, not always as easy as it would seem (insert helicopter desires here).Upon landing the next step is to find a spot to park that is flat, again not always as easy as you'd think.Which brings me to my first request. Wheel chocks. As we have the ability to get out and look around it would be nice to have some provision for insuring my plane is where I left it, when I get back. From experience I can tell you the parking brake on the Stearman is......sometimes lacking in it's..... responsibilities. On more than one occasion I have returned to find my plane has rolled away. Luckily no damage has happened yet.The second item on my wish list would address the issue of me sometimes.....getting lost and not being able to find my way back to the plane. If you've seen one banana tree, you've seen 'em all.So what I would really like is a big bag of...bread crumbs. If someone could pass this along the Beta chain, I would appreciate it.regards,Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
March 15, 201214 yr I would like the same too.I've had my plane roll down hills and disappear.Seems a shame after managing to land it in the first place. i7-920@3360, Asus P6T Deluxe, 6gb Corsair 1600 ram, MSI GTX460, PC Power+Cooling 610wt psu, etc.
March 15, 201214 yr Joe, Bloefield: Your wishes have been posted to the beta site since early January. There is even a report about someone landing on the edge of a cliff, stepping out for a walk, and when he came back, the Stearman had rolled "out" and was suspended on thin air.If you park your plane near a hangar and the wind is high, it will also roll, and could probably crash (+1 to your crash stats).Let hope they do something about, wheel chocks and tie down areas. As for getting lost, I have the special ability to get lost most times, "bread brumbs" would work, but I really need a Garmin GPS, or an "X" marks the spot on the map. March 15, 201214 yr Even with the parking brake they roll away?Just retested and Yes, even when parking brakes are on.Slowly but surely or “Eppur si muove” as my dear Gallileo once said.Repro steps: Set Flight Conditions to Squall or Stormy. Taxi until you have tailwind. Park. Shutdown Step out, and wait a couple minutes. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
March 15, 201214 yr I'm glad I read this post. I never got out of the aircraft because I didn't think there was a reason to do so. Now, I realize I was wrong and can't wait to go looking around of foot. Only concern thought is the mentioned "damage." How do I know how much damage I have sustained or does smoke starting showing and physical wear and tear?
March 15, 201214 yr Only concern thought is the mentioned "damage." How do I know how much damage I have sustained or does smoke starting showing and physical wear and tear?If your plane crashes, you will see the "Crash and Ambulance Popup".If you set weather to Fair or Clear skies, you will hardly have any surface wind, so the plane will hardly move if any.Just remember to park a bit far from trees, buildings etc. and the wind to your side. If you just lightly bump something, you're A/C is still fine.
