Maule landing challenge 6 bug

Featured Replies

When restarting this mission via the "restart mission" button after either crashing or landing but wanting a better score the Maule's engine is off and it won't restart. So I'm at the mercy of the winds with no engine power. Only until I exit the mission back to map and restart it from there does the Maule have engine power again.Very fun challenge BTW.

Try to adjust your mixture, sometime the mixture at the start of the mission is not correctly adjusted for the given altitude.

Haven’t done that challange since beta. How much gas did it have when you tried to restart.?The Maule main tanks could be empty, while the aux tanks may be full. (the HUD fuel meter displays total fuel, not main tanks only) Remember you have to use fuel transfer to replenish the main tanks.(Green Buttons on the right side panel, White buttons show main/aux quantities)

Hmm...this could be it, but everything is fine when the mission first begins. It's only after restarting the mission from a crash or bad landing that the engine is off. I even get the "press B to start engine" message and when I try to start it, the engine won't turn over.

I finally got gold on this. Amazing how the Maule just floats in there, though I don't quite understand the 'side skid' requirement on this one.

I thought that fuel could be the problem but had plenty in both main tanks (~10 gal combined). I don't use the HUD (except for wind then I'll enable it for a second) so I'm sure I was reading my gas correctly. Still this doesn't account for having engine power when initially beginning the mission but after restarting the mission after a crash or bad landing the engine is off and can't be restarted. It says press B to start engine, I do and it just won't turn over, so the wind blows me down Mauna Kea, lol.

Well done !I just can't manage to get gold on that one. Hopefully soon.Fred.

Verify that the fuel is in your Main tanks and not the Aux tanks. If it's in the Aux tanks, that doesn't feed the engines. The fuel has to be transferred into the Main tanks first, as Kab said. Note also that 3 gal. of each Main tank is unuseable fuel. The motor will stop at 3 gals. indicated fuel.If the fuel actually is in the Main tanks, I dunno. Flight doesn't seem to limit your battery power, and the engine should turn over anyway if the prop is windmilling.Have you tried a restart with the VC controls instead of hitting B?

The fuel was in the main tanks. Are you sure about the 3 gal unusable? I used the Maule on a medical flight job one time and forgot that I had a low amount of fuel until about halfway into it (~4 gal in each main tank, none in reserve). I decided to mess around with the fuel tank selector and was able to fly on one tank until ~1.5 gal remaining when I started to lose speed. I switched over to the other tank and the engine came to life.

1.5 gallons unusuable fuel per tank, 3 gallons total.Hook

Oh, my mistake. I just remember running out once right at the end of a mission with gas left in the tanks, and having to look that up.

I always leave the fuel selector on Both, and occasionally land with 3.1 gallons total fuel. :)Hook
