2W3 Swanson product page now live

Is it just me, or do others feel that many of the airports are beginning to look the same? Same grasses, grounds, same people in peopleflow, same sounds. What attracted to me originally to the addons was the individual character of each airport over the "stamp" look of default airports. But it seems the different developers are re-using the same libraries over and over. I look at 2W3 and I feel like I am looking art 7S3 or 2S1 (just throwing out numbers here). I'm not sure where i am, ha!
Good point. While not being an Orbx apologist, it's hard to see how....No, it's not hard to see how they could do it, it would be just too.....No, it wouldn't be too difficult, they've gone a bit formulaic haven't they? Oi vey! This simming lark is sooo difficult.

This looks excellent, but again I have to wonder about the pricing policy here?Publishers can sell stuff at whatever price they like and we as customers will decide whether to buy or not. However with the Entire NZ South Island at Au$40.95 and this release at Au$32.95 that's 80.46% of the cost of an entire region for one regional airfield.Geoff
I imagine their marketing philosophy is that the entry price for the regions is kept artificially low, so you "buy in" and then start to fill out the area with fancy airports. It's a fair enough policy and pretty much the business model for the entire computer printer industry - relatively inexpensive hardware, pricey ink cartridges. Whether it's affordable for most enthusiasts is another question, however, and I also agree with the later post that the airfields are all starting to look the same - that's sort of inevitable, of course, as they now resolutely refuse to do any major airports and have found a very definable niche. The result of that, in my case, is that I have tended to move away from my Orbx regions when flying my beloved 737 NGX, which pretty much takes up all my simming time these days.Overall, the way I see it is that Orbx was FSX "high fashion" for a couple of years. That's worn off a little now, as simmers' habits have changed, especially with the arrival of PMDG's masterpiece - with more to follow it seems!Nonetheless, you have to have the highest respect for Orbx' quality standards. They have raised the bar for scenery.

Well i'm not sure I agree about the regions being artificially low in price. In fact I'd say that they are amongst the better $/£ per sq M/Km of the better area coverage. I have to say that any trawl of Google Earth shows that small regional airports in the US do all have a certain similarity. They DO have an awful lot of small fields compared with other countries. No criticism of PMDg or jet jockeys, but I do feel that us "low 'n slow" virtual pilots are the main beneficiaries of the scenery, certainly as far as North America is concerned. Oz is pretty well served for ORBX's few large airports.Apart from the understandable decision to concentrate on smaller fields because of the time airports take to construct there's also the issue that other developers/publishers have already done a good many of these. It doesn't make sense in such a small market to compete with what's already out there as a newer unique airport will obviously have better sales than one competing with an existing title. The question I'm asking is would folk who do buy these regionals buy more of them if the price were lower?Geoff

I was hoping this was going to come out priced as some of the smaller airports are (W52 Goheen) but it looks like it is priced as the larger regional airports so it goes on my list of ones to wait on for now.

As I said Ron the issue isn't really one of the quality or excellence of the product. Obviously airports are highly detailed in a concentrated area and most good add-ons from any 3rd party developer include some surrounding scenery. However the I'm sure you'll soon have a load of irate Kiwi's protesting that you've described their land as a "desert" with "not much there" too?! :( ...
:Shocked:Australia = DesertNew Zealand = Fertile LandNZSI models what it is (not that I have it yet)...theres 1000s of airstrips/airports/aerodromes in NZSI ....although they many maybe rather sparse but they are in real life.Sawnson...too expensive for me ..maybe there will be a sale? :(
