March 27, 201214 yr Hey! I was wondering if any fellow FLIGHT beta testers had this same experience.. If you went into the top view of a plane in an early flight beta, and zoomed all the way out, you could see the whole world. There was scenery everywhere, but I couldn't make out its detail level. At first, that made me feel good, but after reading the interview with Mr. Howard, I'm getting mixed results. Either way, I'm loving flight, even though I'm a crazy-hard-core FSX'er. Thanks! -Sam C. March 27, 201214 yr I did it once. There really wasn't much to see. mostly empty ocean, with a slice of the western US and a bit more.Before I had the full islands, I flew out to see what they looked like. Very low resolution mesh and terrain. On the order of 10 mile mesh and mabye 2 mile terrain. Some people have flown out to the northwest islands of Hawaii, and they're there, but in the same low resolution. There are screen shots around somewhere.I suspect you could take a Mustang and fly to California, but I'm not up to trying it.Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
March 27, 201214 yr Commercial Member I had that same feeling. I did zoom all the way out in the beta. :P Brandon Filer
March 28, 201214 yr Moderator They reduced the camera view for the RTW version of Flight... I guess they wanted to "hide" the west coast of the U.S. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
March 28, 201214 yr where are they hiding all the other elements of a bona fide flight sim...eerrrmmm gamer...thinger?
March 28, 201214 yr Commercial Member I remember doing that with the beta.I also tried loading scenery files for the beta into the FSX tmfviewer program (which shows the contents of the scenery files). tmfviewer couldn't load most of them. But, the only one it could load was the terrain mesh for the whole Flight world. Don't get too excited by that though as that particular terrain mesh was very very very very very low res. ie LOD 3 which is a resolution of 4.8kms between points. www.antsairplanes.com
