Terminal buildings at PHNL with Megascenery Hawaii

Featured Replies

Hi,

Recently installed megascenery for Oahu and upon landing at PHNL i noticed no actual terminal buildings or Jetways. There is a few hangars and a control tower but no actual default terminal.

I also notice a problem when taking off/landing, where the runway poly flickers through the photoreal runway texture.

Is it a case of just buying FSDT PHNL?

My system which is due for delivery on the 27th October 2011

Before you buy FSDT PHNL download one of the free AFCAD's from the AVSIM Library and see it that works. I have MSX Oahu, but do not use the version of PHNL that came with it.

Your problem maybe that MSX Oahu is to low in your scenery library for the airport to properly show. You could also try taking the PHNL bgl file out of the MSX Oahu scenery folder and put it in a separate scenery folder. I have a folder Addon AP Scenery and in that folder are the usual scenery and texture folders. Make something like that, put the PHNL bgl in the scenery folder and then activate the Addon AP Scenery folder in your scenery library. Set the priority for Addon aP Scenery above everything else and see what happens.

Regarding the flickering, other than it is photo scenery related I have no idea what causes it. I see it at some airports and not others, always where I have MSX or MSE photo scenery installed. The way I get rid of it is to use ADEX, it is free. After you install it I highly suggest that you go through the tutorials, it is the easiest way to learn the basics.

After you have figured out the basics open the airport bgl that you want to modify, go to the chapter for Terrain Elements, this is Section 15 in the manual for v1.45. You want to select the terrain polygon tool, you then have to draw a polygon around the whole airport or the section of the airport you want to modify, After you sucessfully draw the polygon a popup box for polygon properties will appear. For type I use airport backround, under tags I use "Flatten Exclude AutoGen" for most of them, for some I have used "Flatten Map Class Map Exclude AutoGen". You will just need to try them and see what works best for you. After you are done compile the airport, put both bgl files in the scenery file of your chose, just make sure the scenery folder you put them in is activated in the scenery library. It is a good idea to rename your old one, an example would be rename PHNL-HonoluluIntl.BGL to PHNL-HonoluluIntl.BGL.passive

FSDT PHNL will also work.

Default yes. No 3rd party AFCADs either

Can you confirm that you have the Feb 2008 Service Pack installed? (http://www.megascenery.com/patches.htm)

I use quite a bit of MegaSceneryX and MegaSceneryEarth, and have definitely come accross the problem before (but can't remember how I fixed it!).

I suggest you try changing the postition of Hawaii in the Scenery Library against other addon scenery installed (don't move below any FSX default entries though).

If you can't figure it out, drop the guys at PC Aviator an email detailing the problems - in my experience they are usually pretty good with customer service.

Best of luck :)
