April 9, 201214 yr Some people say MS Flight's graphics aren't that advanced over FSX's graphics. Well, just have a look at the shadows. Even the freakin' boxes have shadows! And the lights on the side of the building (though you can't see it that well on the animated gif because I had to make it small)! You can even see the shadow fall on the 'stands' (whatever you call them) of the jetways. Also notice how some sort of 'pre-shadow' falls on the building (above the boxes) before the actual 'hard' shadows falls on it: the shadows work very well together with the subtly changing colors. I think it's a HUGE improvement. Even the boxes have shadows!
April 9, 201214 yr I see what you mean. The shadows are a huge improvement over FSX. Thanks for making the animated gifs! Happy Flying, Clem Wu Beta Tester for OZx, Iris Simulations and Shade.
April 9, 201214 yr Im in awe of the ground shadows in Flight. It's spellbinding to watch on a dawn or dusk flying just above the tree tops on the rugged islands of Maui or Molokia. The way the land arcs round and the light reflecting off the tops of tree's its a wonderful thing and completely rips up any misconceptions I had that a photographic look would be better suited for the Hawaii islands. How wrong was I! It's not just the lighting though but the attention to detail to the costal areas, rivers and buildings. I should really post some pictures as those who haven't seen Flight around some of the islands at dawn or dusk really don't know what I'm on about, others will - the thing is I've not seen many pictures on the internet that have actually captured the beauty of Flight at it's best and for that you've just got to go out and fly for a bit. Cheers, Dave.
April 9, 201214 yr Flying through clouds is pure eye candy too. I was cloud surfing one time in MS Flight, right on the top of a layer of overcast. It was so fun actually. Also dipping into the soup is cool. I was eyeballing the runway I wanted to land on in IFR weather and to my amazement it slowly disappeared and then reappeared, drifting in and out visually. Visually, MS Flight is far superior to FSX and especially X-plane 10. www.stratoart.com Fine Art by Dale Jackson "Oh! April 9, 201214 yr The standard graphics in MSF are overall way better than FSX, it's not even close or debateble. Although I don't think MSF night lighting and buildings and houses are as good as you can do with FSX when combined with certain third-party add-ons.

While not perfect I think that night lighting has much improved with the latest update.
April 9, 201214 yr Trees actually cast soft moving shadow with every detail. April 9, 201214 yr I always enjoy good screenshots, and i loved your captures guys :) Here are some of mine: Cheers
April 11, 201214 yr Just made a quick clip on moving shadow on the ground outside the aircraft as well as inside the cockpit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sACg3Y2Zdbc
April 11, 201214 yr In FSX when the ground scenary shadows are selected there is a significant FPS hit (5 to 15 depending on scenary). Is there a similar hit with shadows activated in MSF? Can you turn shadows on and off in MSF? Thanks Danny
April 11, 201214 yr You can turn the shadows on and off and the impact is low (I doubt if I notice a difference) and absolutely incomparable with the impact groundshadows have in FSX, while FSX has very basic shadows. You do know you can try it all for free...?
April 11, 201214 yr Yeh, to me it seems like the autogen is the thing that is causing the most lag in Flight. Everything else seems fine. It's not that I have a bad computer, but when I fly low near large forests, that's when it creates a lot of studdering.
