Stat Update Ready for Release!

Featured Replies

According to Delafina, a Flight Dev, the Stat update is ready for release. It should be up ready for installation early next week.

Here is the comment from Delafina:

Thanks to everyone who helped us test the Title Update! We've begun the release process, so it should be going live early next week. Your help was a key part of getting it out quickly -- thank you for your dedication to helping us make Flight great. :-)

So as early as next week, aerocaches, stats, and stuff will be recording! Happy Flying!

And at what point did the development team ask you to go public with a message from the beta forum, Alex?

What is discussed or mentioned on the beta forum is private and should not be a "OMG, I've got to be the first to tell everyone" type of comment. IMO, of course.

It's actually up at Facebook and at the flight site, so it's public.

Yet another example of why the beta forum should be shuttered. The game isn't in beta anymore. MS should be supporting the game openly for all of their customers, not keeping things bottled up for the few who were lucky enough to get beta invites. I don't see any mention of this on the Steam forums, which does have Dev attendance.

The game isn't beta anymore. However, the beta forums are still open for former beta testers to add bugs and discussions about future things for Flight. A public forum for Flight is underway, but is yet to be open.

So technically, the beta forums are "temporary" forums that are only accessible by former beta testers. We can post anything in the beta forum anywhere as the Non-Disclosure Agreement is void now.

The NDA tells us that we shouldn't discuss any experiences with Flight until the 29th of February when the game was released. As you know it, the game has already been released.

To summarize, the beta forums are the forums where the devs ask us to test anything NEW or we just talk about stuff that we would like to see implemented in Flight. Public forums are underway. At this time, we would encourage you guys are use the Steam Forums as they are the only Public Forums available for Flight Bugs, Problems, etc. It is also the place where the devs will get notified any way other than by e-mail.

I have respect for all players and devs of Flight, which is why I will almost always be safe and not post anything that hasn't been officially announced at the beta forums. I make mistakes here and there but rarely large ones.

Thank you,

It's irrelevant what reasons MS has for keeping the beta forums going.

All paying customers should have access to the same official sources of information and support.

Yes they should, but if they're asking to test UNRELEASED things, then maybe they want to to use reliable people, like former beta testers. This is a nice way to keep interaction with the people that supported them throughout.

So, people not invited to the beta are unreliable and everyone who was invited is? I know well from my own experience in almost a dozen closed betas that is not so.

Participating in a beta is a much lesser degree of "supporting them" than purchasing their product.

Ummm? Trust me, there is really nothing in there that you are missing out on lol. I mean, literally, nothing. There are no secrets on there. I dont know what you think the beta forums are, but they are not nearly as interesting as you make them seem lol.

Of course, which is why people with access are frequently "passing things along" in both directions. Rolling%20Eyes.gif

Either it is a valuable resource for which all customers should have access, or it's not a valuable resource and therefore no longer has a reason to exist. There's no valid middle ground once the beta is over and customers are paying for the product.

Where are you seeing this information being passed along? You are making this a much bigger deal than it really is lol.

What is it that you are afraid you are missing out on? They asked for volunteers to test the new patch. What is the big deal? You had equal opportunity to apply for the beta, and you WILL eventually get the patch, so what is the problem?

There is NOTHING on the beta forums that isnt already public and readily available on the Flight website or their Facebook page.

Either it is a valuable resource for which all customers should have access, or it's not a valuable resource and therefore no longer has a reason to exist.

Wow... that's a tough sell.

You have access Ray. As the AK mentioned... Plus the FLIGHT sub-forum at Steam... plus! Steam chat. Three (3!) people from the Microsoft FLIGHT Team available to answer questions there (or was last I was there... plus more at the forum).

What's the last game you had live access to the Devs? I don't play many games (and certainly don't hang out on any game forums save aviation related)... so that is the norm? Last I remember any real access to devs was / were people like Phil Taylor & Paul Lange who graciously contributed here at AVSIM during the early FSX days.

This type of game is always in development, and will always be till it stops paying for itself. Its not like FSX when MS just dumped the game off and started on the next version.
