April 15, 201214 yr I have recently installed World of AI, and am very pleased with the way this has livened up my airports and made them more realistic. However I have come across some strange behavioural issues: 1. A few days ago I was taxiing behind a queue of aircraft to take off from London Gatwick. For some reason the first aircraft lined up on the runway but didn't take off. The aircraft behind it also lined up, but didn't take off either. I soon had around 4-5 aircraft all superimposed on top of each other lined up on the runway, but none would take off. So I had to turn my aircraft around and line up via a taxiway further down the runway so that I could take off. 2. Yesterday I installed the special bgl file that Fly Tampa have produced to allow World of AI to work at the old Kai Tak. I use the 9 Dragons version instead of Fly Tampa, and the bgl works great. However I suddenly saw 6 aircraft approaching on the Rwy 13 IGS approach with virtually no horizontal separation - it was like a flock of birds all flying together! The first aircraft landed, but the other 5 behind it had to go around. Is there anything I can tweak to remove these issues, or is it just a quirk with AI that I will have to put up with? And finally, is there any way I can stop the AI aircraft displaying the default FS liveries for the airliners? I want to keep the default liveries for GA aircraft, but seeing the odd default 737 livery amongst all the World of AI aircraft kind of detracts from the realism. Thanks for your help. Sorry for the multiple entries of this posting. There seems to be a problem posting on the forum at the moment as all I am getting is a blank screen when I click on Add reply.

April 15, 201214 yr too get rid of the default traffic there is a file but ill have to find the one i took out cause im not at home... but when you do this it might take away default GA ai traffic The one you want is traffic030528.bgl and its in the FS9/Scenery/World/Scenery Folder :Peace: and KEEP IN MIND Not To DELETE THIS Just move it to some other place Jordan Ridener
April 15, 201214 yr Author Offtopic* Folk just one klick please after writing. Not three threads please. Or is there any Bug with the Forum?*Offtopic. KR Arvid I did click just once, but all I got was "waiting for www.avsim.net" and then a blank screen. So I went back and tried again, got the same result, and tried again. It was only when I checked the forum listings that I discovered that the posting had actually succeeded, but of course 3 times.

Yes, I have seen that this is the key file, but as I said before, I don't want to lose my GA aircraft entirely. Project AI used to offer a file called "FS2004 Default General Aviation Traffic Installer (realistic registrations)" which enabled you to reinstall GA traffic once you had disabled the traffic030528.bgl, but the Project AI site has changed and I can no longer find this file (assuming of course that it would work with World of AI).
April 15, 201214 yr 1. A few days ago I was taxiing behind a queue of aircraft to take off from London Gatwick. For some reason the first aircraft lined up on the runway but didn't take off. The first aircraft landed, but the other 5 behind it had to go around. I'd guess neither of these problems are anything directly to do with World of AI, although having that much AI (WoAI plus default) won't help. 1. sounds like an AFCAD problem, ie with the .af2 file which maps out (in this case) Gatwick. It happens when the 'hold short node' (ie the point where the AI stops) is set in the wrong place, for instance too far back from the threshold. Easily fixed with a freeware editor like AFCAD or, for more modern sceneries, ADE9x. Both in the library here I think. Alternatively, so are several replacement .af2 files for Gatwick - maybe worth trying whichever one fits the scenery you're using. 2. sounds like a regular glitch in how FS manages AI: it vectors them onto final without any regard for speed or spacing. The solution is another freeware program, AISmooth, again in the library.
April 15, 201214 yr Author Thanks Tim. I am trying a more up to date AFCAD for my UK2000 Gatwick scenery, and will see whether this fixes the problem. I have found AISmooth v1.2 on Avsim. When I researched this on Google it referred to v1.1, and also a sister program called AISeparation, which I have also found (fsaisv11.zip). AISeparation is supposed to be better than AISmooth v1.1, but AISmooth v1.2 is dated later than AISeparation, so should I stick with AISmooth v1.2?
April 17, 201214 yr Hmm, I'd be surprised if a top-end scenery developer like UK2000 made a duff AFCAD file: it's such a basic error that I can fix it... Maybe it's something else altogether, or maybe you've got a duplicate AFCAD still installed? I've never moved from AISmooth v1.11. Not perfect but a lot better than the default. Others may be more familiar with the alternatives.
April 18, 201214 yr Hi, you don't have to choose AI Smooth or AISep. You can use both at the same time, Google David Sheffield Tips and tweaks. Works a treat on my machine. Regards JohnT
April 22, 201214 yr Author Well I have tried both versions 1.11 and 1.20 of AISmooth, and I cannot get either to work. Both show that no aircraft are being monitored and that FS is not running (when of course it is). It also states in the title bar that I have FSUIPC version 0.00, when in fact I have the latest registered version. The same happens regardless of whether I start AISmooth before or after starting FS. Does anybody have a solution? Another irritating AI characteristic that I have discovered is that FS labels the AI aircraft with ridiculous labels: Aardvark, DJC and The Fruit Stand. I believe these labels refer to the creator of the specific AI aircraft. However in Flight Sim Commander the aircraft all have correct and realistic labels, such that a British Airways aircraft will be given a suitable flight number such as BA123 (or maybe BAW123 - can't recall whether it uses ICAO or IATA codes). There is no sign of any aardvarks or fruit stands! Is there any way I can change this in FS? Thanks again. April 23, 201214 yr Author Well I have solved one of my problems. I had a lucid moment this morning and have now got AISmooth working - all it took was to run it with administrator rights. I would still like to know how to remove the references to aardvarks and fruit stands from my aircraft labels. Any ideas? Thanks.
April 23, 201214 yr Have you tried un-checking that option? Manufacturer label is read from this line: ui_manufacturer=AI Aardvark found in the aircraft.cfg file RJ
April 24, 201214 yr That's why I have installed every single WOAI file manually: I change the line ui_manufacturer from AI Aardvark into Boeing, from DJC into Airbus and so on. Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
April 25, 201214 yr Author Yes, I have unchecked the "Show manufacturer", and I realise that removes the aardvarks etc. I still get the aircraft type, so that is not a problem. What I really would like to see is the aardvark or whatever replaced by the flight number, in the same way that I do on Flight Sim Commander. In Flight Sim Commander there are no references to aardvarks etc, but you do get the flight number, aircraft type, registration and so on. Is this possible in FS, or is it just a feature of Flight Sim Commander (and a very nice one at that)?
April 25, 201214 yr Look for the following entry in fs9.cfg (here you see my settings): [AContain] ShowLabels=1 ShowUserLabel=0 ShowLabelManufacturer=1 ShowLabelModel=0 ShowLabelTailNumber=1 ShowLabelDistance=1 ShowLabelAltitude=1 ShowLabelAirline=1 ShowLabelAirlineAndFlightNumber=0 ShowLabelFlightPlan=1 ShowLabelContainerId=0 ShowLabelAirspeed=0 ShowLabelHeading=0 LabelDelay=1000 LabelColor=FF008787 There are some settings which can`t be changed from inside FS2004. As I understand, changing the value for "ShowLabelAirlineAndFlightNumber=" to "1" and "ShowLabelAirline=" to "0" should show airline and flight number. Changing the setting for "ShowLabelManufacturer=" to "0" should be the same as unchecking "show manufacturer" via FS2004 settings. Maybe it helps...?
