April 19, 200422 yr Dear Markus, This new traffic program looks excellent. I however am having a problem which I thought I should report as a bug. When I start up the program (very first time!) the application tries to run through my airports and aircraft files and about halfway thru, I get a message that says "out of memory" and the app stops. does not crash, just stops. Now I have over a GB of good RAM in my PC, and had no other applications running... so this cant be correct.Wonder if you can advise? This looks like a great tool. Best Regards, Eric Joiner AND
April 19, 200422 yr Commercial Member Howdy, same here ;-)First, thank you very much, Markus, for the amazing ideas (and work) you put into this utility!Second, I have the same problem as Eric. 1GB RAM (Windows 98SE), no other apps running, out of memory error about 3/4 through the aircraft folder. Installed in "F:Program FilesFS2004 UtilitiesGA-Traffic" (F drive is my FS HD).Cheers, Holger
April 19, 200422 yr Holger, does your app stall at exactly the same point every time? Mine stalls out when it gets to an FSpainter JAS MD87 I have installed. Not sure thats significant or not...Eric AND
April 19, 200422 yr I had to remove a plane's folder to get the program to work at all. After that it was fine.
April 19, 200422 yr I found now the same thing. If I removed the FSPainter MD87 and MD90 (JAS) livery planes, it would work. I think this has to do with the fact that these JAS paints were developed by a Japanese person who included Japanese character ascii code I guess and the app couldnt read it. AND
April 19, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi,Good call, boys ;-)In my case it was my AI cruise ship, also done by a Japanese designer. Thanks for the quick fix!Makes me wonder whether it's a good idea to temprarily remove all non-GA AI aircraft from the FS folder; perhaps that'll speed up the prep work and compilation with Markus' utility.Cheers, Holger
April 19, 200422 yr Perhaps Markus should add this to the FAQ. If it pauses on a certain plane and then either crashes or stalls, remove that one and try again. In my case, it was not a Japanese plane though, it was the Avro RJ 85, with the AVSIM texture, copied over from 2002.
April 19, 200422 yr I think the interface on selecting airplanes is too hard to work with personally. I'd like the option of compiling extra GA flight plans using just the default AI planes without having to go select ALL my other planes as not to be used in AI. In any case this probably should go in the FAQ unless Markus fixes it... :-)Eric AND
April 20, 200422 yr an easy way to deselect a plane for AI would be nice. But once youve made AI reduced tecture planes and set all others to 0% it all works well
April 20, 200422 yr Moderator The program should obtain all the path information from the .ini file and not the Registry. I do not install anything on the flightstations here unless they are needed everytime the sim is run.All the flightstations are on a LAN and use shared data from a server. I cannot use this program from a remote control station because it will not scan the data from the LAN server. Fr. April 20, 200422 yr Hi Eric and all getting the plane reading problem, this bug is a realy new one which didn't occured during the ALPHA test.Currently I guess the problem is something in the aircraft.cfg file which GA-Traffic didn't like.If you could send me the aircraft.cfg file ONLY I could try to identify the bug. The bug isn't a texture bug, because GA-Traffic only read the aircraft.cfg file at startup. The fix would be easy, I hope. So please e-mail me the cfg file of the planes.
April 20, 200422 yr Hi,GA-Traffic reads only the first startup the data out of the registry and after that it reads the data from the ini file. Problem is that I need the path info at first run. Try to use this dummy ini:[Path]TTools=D:ProgrammeGA-TrafficBinFS2004=D:The file name is 'GATraffic.ini' you must change the path 'D:' according to your settings.Post if it work.
April 20, 200422 yr Hi Eric,GA-Traffic filter out all aircraft above 14000 kg take off weight for GA usage. Further filtering would be difficult to implement. I could do 'Use only default planes' but I thought this was very boring at all.
April 20, 200422 yr Hi Grey_wulf,you could deselect a plane by removing the 'Use for GA' flag. No need to make further actions.
April 21, 200422 yr Moderator >The file name is 'GATraffic.ini' you must change the path>'D:' according to your settings.>>Post if it work. Thanks, Marcus! Editing the .ini and reloading GA-Traffic allowed it to read the a/c on the H:FS9 server just fine. Now to sort through the 500+ GA a/c installed... :) Fr.
