Oh, that's impressive. Would love to see more of that quality. As of now I'm continuing to spend time with X-Plane and I'm enjoying the flight experience, but am not yet sold on the out-the-window view. Once the scenery can provide immersion across the board, it's a different story and I might just be all in. Something to look forward to at any rate.

Agreed to an extent about the out-the-window view, with one exception. The mountains of the Pacific Northwest up into B.C. are gorgeous when seen in X-Plane 10's rendering of the morning light. Toss in a cloud layer or two of scattered stratus, and it's close to picture perfect. I can see I'm going to be inspired to get back into bush flying using XP.

Of course, when it comes to cities, I'm with you 100%. I know it's a work in progress, so I don't mind playing a little wait and see. In the meantime, I'd highly recommend firing up a prop of your choice, taking off from Ketchikan, and heading east. You won't regret it. :)

Thanks for the tip re: PAKT. That's amazing! The basic terrain and overall look and feel meet or exceed anything I've seen in ORBX for FSX. It doesn't yet have the polish that you see in ORBX PFJ - buoys, water traffic, etc. - but it clearly shows what X-Plane 10 scenery can be, and I'd guess that the little details should be relatively easy to add. This is the first time that I've seen X-Plane begin to approach a complete experience - aircraft plus feel-of-flight plus out-the-window view. Shows I've got to get out of my local area more. I'll try to spend more time in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, and hope that cities in general and my local Northeast/Mid-Atlantic U.S. will follow at some point. But a very good start.

Glad you liked it! It's funny the difference lighting and shadows make. Everything just looks so real. I've never seen that aesthetic in FSX, and believe me, I love FSX. I've become a mountain flying addict in XP.

Xplane out of box fly western North America looks real good. Flew southern Wyoming the terrain looks pretty close to real life. Fly South Dakota it has badland type terrains never saw that in fsx out of box. Outside big cities xplane 10 is real good VFR flying.
