Eric,Very nice video, very nice music making both BIGKaiTak!Suggest you post your message in same wording to support or request at www.flytampa.com|Support|Support Forum|General Discussion|Kai tak and Hong Kong a possibility?Regards,Paddy.

Yep..nice video Eric. What scenery did you have installed? Is that Thomas's? Looks good; we need that in FS9!!

>I would do anything for a new version of Kai Tak from Thomas>Kwong of FlyTampa!>>>See my FS video of the IGS 13 approach (6000+ downloads):>You can stream it:>http://www.cpavirtual.org/Files/Videos/BIGKaiTak.wmv>>FS2002 with Posky in old Cathay livery. =)>i see your video many months ago when i entered in the Cathay virtual:nice video and a brilliant choice of music!;)Luca

Thanks guys! That is Thomas Kwong's scenery, IMHO still the best. =)Pretty old video, I would like to make a new one with better graphics and an updated Kai Tak!

mm,not very good the poll on simflight network: 12 want absolutely a new scenery,5 are interested but not too much, and 10 are not interested at all.Do you know what am i doing? i'm working on my own, trying to fully redo the flightsoft one, with different and more recent tecnique, using some of its (good) textures.I don't know if i'll create anything, but i'm very serious.any help will be appreciated.Luca

Yes, Luca that the best thing you can do, given the fact that the response for a complete remake of this unique approach in the aviation world "as it was" is so disappointing!I hope that you will keep us informed of your results in future....Paddy.

Luca, let us know what kind of help you need....if I can be of any help, I will gladly assist! Unfortunately, I've never tried 3d modelling, etc, but if there's something you need...

Sounds good Luca.Be caeul speading the word to much as Flightsoft may getupset with you trying to fix their broken product.I'd imagine you may never be able to openly release any of their textures etc but there is nothing to stop you from having a play and see what you come up with. Also i'd be happy to help test anything you come up with as an owner of the Flightsoft product.I got the most amazingly arrogant response from them wheni wrote asking when they would fix the Hong Kong scenery."We're not aware of folks experiencing major texture problems with HK2004 or the FS2002 version. I have it on my system and it is perfect. Perhaps you need to fix your computer ... which is where the real problem lies not in our software"Given that i know of several who have written to them complaining about issues with the texturing this is an outright load of crap and i am putting a post together to go here about dodgy publishers making a fast buck from us.Seems you can't get away from shonksters no matter where you go these days.Darren

Thanks for the support, guys.Since i'm not a developer until now,i'm studying very very much all SDK and the program like Terrabuilder and Ground.i'm realizing that several skills are needeed (gmax, afcad, texturing, tmf),so anyone can help me is much than appreciated.Hopying that this project will became reality in a reasonable time,i'm trying to collect all photos about Kowloon, the airport, new and old buildings, and so on...so to limit the use of Flightsoft textures as much as possible (it could be better to have own textures at all).i'm seriously engaged in this project.CiaoLuca

Whish you all the luck you will need, Luca. Curious about the final results. Please take all the time you need, don't hurry up things and keep us informed!Cheers,Paddy.

  • 1 month later...

after months of studying,i have to admit to myself that it's to difficult for me.News of the day is that Cloud9 will do the CLK;Flightsoft will do the same (considering their last messages); FlyTampa don't consider it at all;Samsoft is the only SH building Kai Tak.I hope they will do a great work in a reasonable time (the end of the year).

Thanks for your latest info, Cathay! We will hope and wait what is coming out after all; but I fear we'll have to wait till the day comes that MSFS has the its virtual world covered with real satellite-photography, which would reach nearby the perfection.Paddy.

Thanks for your research on behalf of the Kai Tak clan, Cathay.I can understand why, faced with two payware houses already having Kai Tak available, no other payware outfit would bother with the airport; particularly as it is now closed, and so many simmers seem to only want to fly current world in characterless Boeings :( However, the real beauty of FS to me is being able to recreate the past as well. One thing I can tell you is that, presently, you will be able to fly Kai Tak as it was in the 1940s ... that is, without the runway extension, and with the original runways and buildings of that era.But we'll keep working on the better known airport as a freeware possibility too. It's not dead yet.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg
