Fast rig but poor results on FSMark11 Test

Featured Replies

Sounds good Word Not Allowed. I know your busy and thanks for your hard work. I noticed we both run 4.8 and a gtx 580 and you average 46 or so in the fsxmark11. I am at 42-43. Any ideas what could possible bump me upmto your numbers? My ram 8gb 1600ddr3.

Maybe a slight OC on your GPU might help a bit in heavy cloud scenarios. Did you test again with usepools=0 yet?

No i am still running the fsmark 11 tests and maximizing a stable overclock to get the frames up to where others with similar setups are.

Aren´t these RAM a bit on the slow side?

"Ram 4x2GB 1333Mhz (9-9-9-24-2T)"

What brand is it?

Can' t they run 1600 Mhz, and tighter, i.e. 7-8-7-24-1T?

I bumped to 1600 in the bios but its still running 9-9-9-24 2T and the are corsair C9

What about 2T, can you change that to 1T?

IMO CAS 9 is not really OK for an intended high performance FSX rig...

I´m no expert, but I know when I´ve found one!

You will have to look here, and read:

FSX is not a game, its a simulation and needs every advantage to memory speed and latency possible

What I´ve learned in app. 3 years of FSX tweaking and some flying (!) is that the balance between the different hardware is most important, and it seems to me that you have everything up to top-performance, except your RAM...

So can i change my memory speed or something in my bios? I have never tinkered with that before... Or would i have to purchase all new memory??

My GPU is overclocked and my RAM is faster. Could quite easily be that.

You have to see what your memory is specified for. CPU-Z, SPD page, post a shot here.

Will post those as soon as I get back to the states tonight. I did go ahead and take the heatsinks off my Ram because I had to in order to fit my noctua cooler...is that ok or would that cause a performance issue?

Nothing bad will come out of it. I took off the RAM coolers more than once.

Word Not Allowed, Here is the screenshot of my SPD page.

Try changing Command Rate to 1T and see what happens.

Actually, why don´t you load up FSX first and see how it performs?

I don´t give a hoot about these benchmarks, and a difference in 2-3 FPS with this or that RAM, or whatever!

It´s the "In Game" performance that counts, and YOUR OWN perception of it.

Surely the best RAM will be 6-6-6-24-1T, but probably not easy to find these days.

So you're stuck with the Corsairs, maybe you could try adjusting them at bit:

Fantastic. I will give it a try! This is the first time I have installed a MOBO/graphics card...and a build from scratch so I was just using the test to ensure everything is running....hahaha. Thanks for the help!
