Gear Up/Down Affects Sound

Featured Replies

When the gear lever is moved all sound levels drop almost to zero. There is no gear sound at all, engines just a faint humming. As soon as gear is locked up or down sound returns. Any idea for a fix? It may have started after SP1, but possibly it was SP2. I really like this plane but the sounds leave a bit to be desired (even if Carenado says they are good).

Regards to all

The audio effects you're discussing are 'played' by FS itself and thus any particular addon can not control the volume of individual sounds, etc.

I'd look into such things as an over-extended audio system. Perhaps there are too many sounds being played, which will cause some to 'drop out'.

Neal,

You may want to check out the King Air sound set from Turbine Sounds Studios - I replaced most of my Carenado C90 sound files with their Super King Air High Definition (FSX) package and really like the improvement.

Hello Neal,

I run win7 64bit pro with just the "normal" soundcard on my motherboard with realtek drivers and I see no audio-fading when engaging the gear-lever, not on this plane or any other FSX-addon. Just like Ed said I too do believe it must be system-/ driver- / card- related or some options in your driver-tool may cause this. But I don´t think it has something to do with the audio-file or sound.cfg from Carenado itself.

Best regards,

I have never had that happen to me with the C90 (or any other plane) either. Sounds system-specific to me.
