A "Go/No-Go" decision... The pickiest guy in the World...

Featured Replies

Your's truly :-)

Last week I felt rather disappointed about the strange/weird/unrealistic behaviour of FLIGHT regarding post-envelope performance, namely the fact that a plane (the Icon, but at least another user was able to reproduce it using the Stearman) with it's engine running at iddle, or even shutdown, and while spinning, starts rotating wildly and then gaining altitude...

I can accept it (well, I can understand...) and continue to use a flightsim, after all, all versions of MSFS had that problem too... although I know of a few platforms which, even if they do not do it to the perfection at least offer a more acceptable "out-of-the-envelope/post-stall) behaviour.

Now, something I really can't tolerate is the following type of bug:

None of the three C/S prop models in FLIGHT (I can't speak for those without a cockpit because I am unable to monitor the RPM / MP there...) works correctly in as far as the RPM <--> Manifold Pressure relation is modelled.

Varying the RPM should have a noticeable impact on the MP - Increasing RPM reduces MP and lowering RPM increases MP.

Please fix this MS FLIGHT team ;-) preferably on the next DLC.

For me this is the kind of stuff (you may well not understand why...) that acts like a Go/No Go decision regarding the support/use I give to a flight simulation platform!...

Yet another poor modelling example, that really irritates me is the "free-running" turbine model in MSFS previous versions not being realistic in as far a FF and Prop RPM are related... I hope that if a turboprop with such an engine type is released they fix it.... (this is another "war" I had with xplane....Fly! did it OK, I can't recall Propilot, ASA and ELITE do it as well, and FlightGear the freeware sim also does it if you design the engine model properly)

Why do I think I can be so picky? Because when attention has been given to such aspects as the effects of oppening a door in flight, assymetric gear retraction/extension, fuel tank management, etc... then much more basic, and somehow didactic aspects should be considered as well...IMHO

I'm picky, you may say... Yes I am :-)

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Would be nice to have that feature indeed, but if we got it we would absolutely need a cockpit for the P-51 so we can monitor the RPM and Manifold pressure to manage the engine. Unless there's an auto setting for that added so we can be hands off with it like we can with fuel mixtures if we want to.

Weather!!!!

I accept it just as it is, based on themes, BUT, we must be able to get access to some sort of METAR-like string, or some simplified easily readable form of it.

I want to be able to set my altimeter, and to use OAT at sea level/etc to plan my flight on those hot moist days... It DOES HAVE quite an effect on airplane performance, is didactic, and was available in previous versions of MSFS...

I am not asking for ATC!!! Just a simple way to get weather reports for the departure/destination/cruise and be able to set altimeter, calculate performance given the temperature/moist etc...

yes... I took the day off to list my FLIGHT wishes for the future....

100% agreement - there is some weather generation going on within themes, so a way to "read" it would be great..Having it linked to RW METARs would be greater

It is on the big suggestion list: E002. http://msflightforum.myfastforum.org/about152.html

Perhaps our now moderator might consider pinning the thread related to it here so that is does not keep heading down!

PS I am aware that the Flight Team have all been given a copy of this list - hopefully it will make good bed time reading for them!

You go jcomm!!

It is a good idea for us to check Jon's suggestion list and add to it anything that we consider important. That list is read by the developers and even if a lot of the items are not on their list of future features, it gives them a good idea of what the community wants in a centralized, easy-to-read format.

Best regards.

Thank you, José, this is a very important point. It should certainly be considered for a future update.

Done!

I agree with the weather options, although it's certainly not a 'No go' for me.

@jcomm I merged your weather Go/No go topic with this one. If you find another Go/No go during your day off please add it to this topic! No one wants some 23 (or more  ) Go/No go-topics on the forum, I think.
